Assistant General Manager, Kyagalanyi
Coffee Ltd.
LOCATION: Uganda
ROLE:
The Assistant General Manager for Kyagalanyi Coffee
Ltd. (KCL) will support the day to day running and on-
going strategic development of our business in Uganda.
The position requires a senior manager with substantial
experience in a similar level role, with strong technical and
commercial expertise as well as management capability.
Reporting to the General Manager of Kyagalanyi Coffee
Ltd., the successful candidate will become part of the KCL
management team.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Support the GM of KCL in developing and implementing
an overall strategic plan for the business.
• Support on aspects of staffing, management and
operational requirements across various functions
including but not limited to:
o Financial resource allocation, budgeting, reporting and
cost management
o Compliance with applicable minimum control standards
o Create a culture of high performance delivering against
agreed timescales and performance targets.
o To have overall responsibility for operational
performance and to carry out regular client feedback
discussions to ensure a high level of service delivery
and action.
o Renewal and negotiation of leases, licensor agreements
and service provider contracts
• Contribute towards all aspects of client and trading
activities including but not limited to:
o Sourcing of Coffee ie. Developing a strong working
knowledge of the coffee regions within Uganda and
where/how to source coffees to deliver on client needs
at the right prices, developing and maintaining the
requisite knowledge of coffee tasting and blending
o Trading administration
o P&L
o Valuations and MPR
o Handling and developing the customer base, hosting
visitors
o Regular supplier and farm visits accompanied by
customers, gathering relevant information i.e. research
on crop expectations, prices, market rates and
practices.
PERSON SPECIFICATION:
• Experience working in a similar level role within the
Coffee industry
• Strong commercial acumen (Trading and Finance) with
the enthusiasm and past experience and drive to expand
our sales into new markets and increase our customer
base
• Customer focused with a passion for ensuring customer
satisfaction for existing relationships as well as seeking
to expand the market and initiate new business.
• Experience of logistics, warehouse operations & quality
control management: an ability to work across all of
these areas improving procedures, personnel capacity,
taking full responsibility for outcomes for selected areas
• Excellent communication skills and a can-do attitude
• Cultural awareness and sensitivity to different attitudes
and behaviours
• Robust resilient character with the ability to work
autonomously and confidently.
• Knowledge of financial management and managing
budgets
• Proactive approach to problem prevention and problem
solving
• Practical experience in working with sustainable supply
chains would be beneficial.

1. HUMAN RESOURCE OFFICER
NUMBER REQUIRED: 1
Job Description:
• Maintains and enhances the organization’s human
resources by planning, implementing, and evaluating
employee relations and human resources policies,
programs, and practices.
• Perform any other related duties as may be assigned from
time to time by the CSCEC
REQUIREMENTS
• At least Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource
Management or any other related field from an accredited
university with 7 years’ experience on a similar project.
• Understanding of Human Resource proficiency.
• Good knowledge of policies, laws regulations and
guidelines.
• Good data management
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
2. QUANTITY SURVEYOR:

Job Description
• Coordinating in overall administration and project
execution plans with sub-contractors, project team and
project managers.
• Analyzing subcontractors’ term/conditions for various
risks such as ambiguities, conflicts or deviations from the
scope of work.
• Monitoring various site activities /work proceeds and
suggesting the site manager on remedies for mitigating
the risks involved.
• Valuing the work carried out each month and submitting
a recommendation for certified payment after deciding
on how to of a job should be paid for at any time with
interest rates.
• Performing other duties as assigned
Requirements.
• Should have at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity
Surveying or any related field.
• Ability to understand and analyze technical bid parameters
and bid models
• Quantity survey and basic design experience with
knowledge in auto cad
• Minimum of 5 years of experience on similar project.
3. STRUCTURAL ENGINEER
Number required: 2
Job description
• Performs design and inspection/field work that does not
require previous experience.
• Assists in the completions of reports.
• Prepares design computations and quantity estimates.
• Keeps Project Managers informed of work load and any
changes to project scope or additional services.
• Uses computer assisted engineering and design software
and equipment to prepare engineering and design
documents besides Performing other duties as assigned
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited
four-year university plus appropriate continuing education
and atleast 5 years of experience.
• Familiar with Uganda building codes.
4. EARTHWORK ENGINEER/ SCHEDULE ENGINEER

Job Description
1. Monitoring employees and determining the work
schedule on a construction site to ensure that work is
done efficiently with quality standards and within the
anticipated time.
2. Reporting on the progress of the work, the estimated time
to completion and employee evaluations.
3. Ordering for materials for each construction job on the
site.
4. Performing other duties as assigned.
Requirement
• At least a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or an
equivalent.
• Able to read, understand and design drawing according to
construction requirements.
• Design institute work experience is preferred.
5. HYDRAULIC MECHANIC

Job description
• Design hydraulic products or systems such as hydraulic/
electrical circuits, mechanical drive systems and steel
fabrications.
• Plans fabrication and installation activities to ensure
products and system conform to engineering design and
customer specifications.
• Diagnoses malfunctions in hydraulic products and
systems and recommends corrective action.
• Evaluates field installation and recommends design
modifications to eliminate machine or system

• Solid background in computer skills, including experience

5. HEAVY DUTY MACHINE OPERATORS
• Excavator; Roller ; Wheel loader; Bulldozer; Grader; Dump
truck
Job Description
• Operates equipment to perform maintenance and/or
construction works.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.
• Performs light maintenance on equipment such as
replenishing fuel, checking oil levels, ensures equipment
is properly greased and that equipment is serviced in a
timely manner by mechanics.

6. ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST

Job Description:
• Environmental Specialist is responsible for ensuring
district compliance with Federal, State, and local
regulations related to hazardous materials.
• Maintaining operation and inspection logs.
• Submitting clear and concise written reports based on
field inspec�ons.
• Recommending and coordinating the development of
programs needed by the district to comply with hazardous
materials regulations.
• Providing coordination with regulatory agencies in regard
to hazardous materials.
• Performing other duties as assigned
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or other
related studies.
• Ability to develop and maintain management information
systems which identify the location of hazardous
materials in all facilities.
• Supervising work of outside contractors involved in
removing or testing hazardous materials.
• Maintaining accurate records related to chemical
inventories, complaint investigations, and shipments of
hazardous wastes.
7. SOCIOLOGIST

Job Description:
• Implementation of the Contractor’s Social Management
Plan to manage social risks, including the STDIHIV/AIDS
prevention and all mitigation plans, risks related to labour
influx, child protection, and gender related risks.
• Supervise the implementation of the Grievance
Management Plan to support reporting and handling of all
grievances related to the project including those resulting
from involuntary resettlement and injurious affection due
to the project and related sub projects.
• Act as a link between the project staff, the employer,
Consultants and the respective local government
structures.
• Sensitize staff, community and other Stakeholders on the
social Safeguards requirements for the Project
• Perform any other related duties as may be assigned from
time to time by the CSCEC
Requirements
• At least a Bachelor’s degree in Social Works and Social
Administration or an equivalent
• At least 4 years’ experience in the same posi�on.
8. SAFETY & HEALTH OFFICER

Job Description:
Health and safety officers will be based in a wide range of
company, from multinationals to small consultancies, and
help to plan, implement, monitor and review protective and
preventative safety measures.
Requirement
• Must possess at least a bachelors degree in Social Work
or any related field
• Be an experienced Road Safety practitioner with a
demonstrable track record in the delivery of Road Safety
Engineering on projects of various scales, preferably for
both local roads and motorways/ expressways;
• Have experience and training in Road Safety Engineering/
Audits and crash/collision investigation and prevention;
• Demonstrate a good knowledge of highway design and/or
traffic engineering and be able to contribute skills in these
areas beyond Road Safety Auditing;
• Be a proactive team player capable of working with
planners, designers and other professional on delivering
safe design in roads and highways;
• Be effective in maintaining good working relationships
within a wide reaching business, both within project
teams internally and with clients.
9. SURVEYOR
NUMBER REQUIRED:2
Job Description:
• In charge of all Surveying works.
• Make a record of the “distances, directions and angles
between two points,” on the ground, using agreed-upon
reference points, called benchmarks, as a starting point
• Carefully delineate the boundaries of interest, using both
their on-site surveys and records found in land offices, to
write the legal description of a parcel.
• Perform any other related duties as may be assigned from
time to time by the CSCEC
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s in surveying
• experience of at least 5 years in similar field.
• Good knowledge in using a geographic information
system device to prepare a highly detailed, layered map
of the results of a survey, to show all easements, soil
conditions and structures on a parcel.
• Should be Self-oriented.
10. CAD DESIGNERS
NUMBER REQUIERED: 2
Job Description
• Have the ability to draw plan, profile and cross-section
drawings, and can export data such as fill and cut,
drainage elevation and so on using the necessary design
softwares. (Customized cross-sectional style according to
the requirements of the company and the supervisor) and

equivalent.

11. MATERIALS ENGINEER
NUMBER REQUIRED: 1
Job Description
• The Materials Engineer will be providing all necessary
assistance to the construction team with respect to
all materials submittals, approvals, testing, sampling,
etc. Will participate in the quality control of materials
including all the laboratory and field testing, acceptance
of used materials, checking and accepting all remedial
and corrective measures and supervision.
• Perform any other related duties as may be assigned from
time to time by the CSCEC
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum of 10 postgraduate years of experience and
minimum of 7 years of similar work experience on large
infrastructure projects.
• Regional experience is preferred.
• Independently performs highly complex professional
assignments demanding contributions calling for the
application of specialized principles.
12. LABORATORY TECHNICIAN
NUMBER REQUIRED: 2
Job Description
• Go out to site to obtain samples.
• Conduct the testing of materials;
• Design and quality control of construction materials
besides performing other duties as assigned
Requirements
• At least a diploma in Civil Engineering or an equivalent
• Experience of at least 5 years in similar field.
• Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices,
and procedures within a particular field.
• Should be able to write reports and provide feedback to
Management;
• Should be able to resolve problems - especially with
unusual soil and aggregate samples, and special concrete
mix designs;
13. CHINESE- ENGLISH TRANSLATOR/ PUBLIC RELATIONS
MANAGER
NUMBER REQUIRED: 2
Job Description
• Serves as interpreter at seminars, speeches, meetings,
teleconferences, and symposia, providing consecutive or
simultaneous translation between languages.
• In simultaneous interpreting, renders oral translation of
material at time it is being spoken.
• May participate in establishing specialized contacts for
the company.
• Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
