Mutualism: Cleaner fish eating the dirt off of whales like the bowhead whale
Chlorofluorocarbons are gases that contain chlorine. When chlorine goes into the
atmosphere and touches the Ozone layer. It destroys the O3 molecules that make
up the ozone layer.
Importance of Ozone Layer
The ozone layer is made up of O2 and O3. The O3 absorbs the UV radiation and
turns into O2 and that O2 will then turn back into O3 to start the cycle again.
Without the Ozone–oxygen cycle, the stratosphere would lose its O3 and would let
much much more UV radiation into the Earth.
Importance of Ozone Layer
Plankton which is the life form that
feeds a majority of the life in the
Arctic Atlantic Ocean can not live
with High UV Radiation levels.
Without the Ozone most creatures
would die
What can individuals do to help
CFC’s are the main cause for the depletion of the Ozone. Thankfully they are not
used very often anymore
DO not use any refrigerator, Aerosol can, or air conditioner, or any other device
that uses a form of compressed air that is older than 1995 unless proven to be
CFC free
What can higher up powers do to help
Poorer countries use much more CFC products than americans, especially in
industrial grade devices.
By improving the quality of life in these countries, it would help replace the old
devices for new non-CFC using items.
