MARINERS MAKE 30 SELECTIONS ON DAY THREE OF 2019 MLB DRAFT

Mariners select 41 players combined in three days of the 2019 MLB First-Year Player Draft.

SEATTLE, Wash. -- Seattle Mariners Director of Amateur Scouting Scott Hunter announced today that the club selected
41 players in the 2019 Major League Baseball’s First-Year Player Draft, highlighted by their first pick, right-handed starter
George Kirby, who was the 20th overall selection in the draft.

The Mariners selected 23 pitchers, including 3 left-handers, 4 catchers, 9 infielders (2 2B, 4 SS, 3 3B), and 5 outfielders.
Seattle selected 33 college players and 8 high school players.

The Mariners drafted 4 catchers, 9 infielders (2 2B, 4 SS, 3 3B), and 5 outfielders. Infielder Austin Shenton from the Florida
International University was the Mariners first position player selected in the 5th round (156th overall). Of the 18 position
players selected, 12 are right-handed hitters, 5 are left-handed hitters and 1 switch hitter.

Seattle selected 23 pitchers in the draft; 20 right-handed pitchers and 3 left-handed pitchers. Right-handed pitcher Michael
Limoncelli (6th round/186th overall) from Horseheads (NY) High School was the first high school pitcher selected by the
Mariners, while right-handed pitcher George Kirby (1st round/20th overall) from Elon University was the first college pitcher
drafted by Seattle. In all, 17 of the 23 pitchers selected by Seattle were college pitchers.

The Mariners selected 33 college players in the draft, including 12 of the Mariners first 14 picks. At 17-year-old, Dutch Landis
(17th round) out of Bishop Gorman High School in Henderson, NV, was the youngest player the Mariners selected.

In all Seattle selected players with hometowns from 20 states and 1 territory: Alabama, Arizona, California (5), Colorado,
Florida (3), Georgia (2), Illinois, Indiana (2), Kansas, Louisiana, Minnesota, Mississippi, Nevada, New Jersey, New York (2),
North Carolina (3), Ohio, Oklahoma Pennsylvania, South Carolina (2), Texas (5) and Washington (3); 2 countries: United
States, Canada (1).

The Mariners selected infielder Perry McMichen (40th round/1206th overall) out of Wyoming (OH) High School in Cincinnati,
OH with their final selection. Perry is the son on Mariners Pro Scout John McMichen.

The Mariners selected 3 players with ties to the Pacific Northwest in the 2019 First-Year Player Draft: third baseman Austin
Shenton (56th round/93rd overall) from Florida International University, outfielder Trent Tingelstad (22nd round/666th
overall) from University of Louisiana-Monroe and right-handed pitcher Garrett Westberg (26th round/786th overall) from
the University of Central Florida. Shenton, a native of Bellingham, WA, hit .330 (65x197) with 33 runs, 11 doubles, 2 triples,
7 home runs, 47 RBI, 28 walks, a .425 on-base percentage and a .513 slugging mark in 53 games as a junior with Florida
International this season. Following his career at Bellingham High School, he was selected by Cleveland in the 34th round
of the 2016 Draft but did not sign. Shenton played 1 season at Bellevue College in 2017 before transferred to Florida
International University. Tingelstad, a Marysville, WA native, graduated from Marysville-Pilchuck in 2016 and spent two
seasons at Everett Community College before transferring to the University of Louisiana-Monroe this season for his junior
year. Overall he hit .353 (73x207) with 52 runs scored, 19 doubles, 4 triples, 7 home runs, 46 RBI and 43 walks in 58 games
with the Warhawks in 2019. Westberg, a Federal Way, Washington native, graduated from Decatur High School in 2015
and played two season at Tacoma Community College before transferring to UCF for his junior season in 2018. In his senior
season in 2019, he went 2-5 with a 3.38 ERA (17 ER, 45.1 IP) in 30 relief appearances.

Seattle selected right-handed pitcher George Kirby (1st round) and right-handed pitcher Ty Adcock (8th round) teammates
from the Elon University. Kirby, from Rye, NY, he went 19-8 with a 3.34 (ERA (89 ER, 240.0 IP) in 45 games, 34 starts over
3 season at Elon. Adcock went 4-1 with 9 saves and a 2.32 ERA (8 ER, 31.0 IP) with 37 strikeouts and 16 walks in 21 relief
appearances in his redshirt junior season with Elon in 2019. He recorded 10.74 strikeouts-per-9.0 innings (37 K, 31.0 IP)
while allowing only 1 home run in 31.0 innings (0.29 HR/9.0 IP).

The Mariners selected 8 players (rounds 3-10) on Tuesday afternoon. The Mariners also made three selections during the
first day of the draft: right-handed pitcher George Kirby (1st round/20th overall), left-handed pitcher Brandon Williamson (2nd
round/59th overall) and right-handed pitcher Isaiah Campbell (Compensation B, 76th overall). Kirby, 21, recently completed
his junior season at Elon University, going 8-2 with a 2.75 ERA (27 ER, 88.1 IP) in 14 starts. The 6-foot-4, 205-pound starter, limited opponents
to a .221 (73x331) average while issuing only 6 walks and striking out 107 in 88.1 innings. Kirby was named Colonial Athletic Association 2019
Pitcher of the Year, after leading all Division I pitchers with a 17.83 strikeout-to-walk ratio and fewest walks per 9.0 innings (.611). He also
ranked among Division I leaders in WHIP (11th, 0.89) and complete games (T13th, 3).
