Introduction

Video game are fun and so enjoyable. Therefore, video game has a lot of side to it

weather it be that you need to spend your money and time on it a lot or even about the

addiction of it. But that didn’t mean that video game are completely bad, there still a lot

of positive side to video game that some people may not now about. And for an some

adult may think video are bad and you don’t want your child to play it or addicted to it.

Yes, addiction are bad but if managed properly, video game can bring help than harm to

your child.

Methodology

In this paragraph, I will write a methodology. I want to know how other people feel

about video games and how it will affect their child development. So to find out about this

I choose to make a survey of multiple choice and short answer (appendix A). I will give

the survey to grade 10 student at MUIDS. The student age between 14 - 16 years. The

survey will ask about did you play games? and how did you perform in specific subject to

see which subject does video games can help you develop the most. And did the video

game cause a negative side on some subject or not. This can prove that video game isn’t

just bad but also has a lot of positive side to it if managed properly and It can become the

guideline to how much we should play video game for the future. I will put the link of my

google form survey into the grade 10 line group. In my research, I research about how

video can affect child development and I found a lot of different opinion on this topic, some

are positive, some are negative. “Video games are frowned upon by parents as time-

wasters, and worse, some education experts think that these games corrupt the brain.

Playing violent video games are easily blamed by the media and some experts as the

reason why some young people become violent or commit extreme antisocial behavior.”

(Ronaldo Tumbokon, 2019) but from my research, that theory is not really correct. “But

many scientists and psychologists find that video games can actually have many benefits

– the main one is

making kids smart. Video games may actually teach kids high-level thinking skills that

they will need in the future.” (Ronaldo Tumbokon, 2019)

Finding and discussion

From the data I collected. 23 student responded and the data show the grade of

the student in specific subject and the The result is in math subject, there only 8.7%(2

student) student that fail and got F, 1 of the respond got an D, 17.4% got C, 39.1% of the

respond got B and lastly 30.4% got A (Appendix B). In English subject 21.7% of them got

C and that pretty good too other is 10 respond got B and 8 respond got A (Appendix C).

In computer subject only 1(4.3%) student got D and 3 of the respond got C and 11 got B

and 8 respond got A (Appendix D). In history 56.5% of the student got A and 34.% got B

the least is C by 8.7% (Appendix E) which I think video game can actually help student

with this subject by some of the video game has real history lore and logic behind example

Assassin’s creed, Battlefield and that may and may not help student learn about the

history. But at least these game can make student see the picture of the history more like

in history class Mr.Richard use footage from Assassin creed to show the picture of Egypt’s

cities and lastly arts subject, most of them got an A (82.6%)and only some got B (Appendix

F), for art's I think it pretty obvious that video game help student develop with imagination

and creativity and this can applied in art pretty well and help student to have better time

learning art subject “When a child plays a game such as The Incredible Machine, Angry

Birds or Cut The Rope, he trains his brain to come up with creative ways to solve puzzles

and other problems in short bursts” (Ronaldo Tumbokon, 2019).

Conclusion

After all the research and data that I collect, the result is that video games is not

as bad as parent think it is, video game can be really helpful and entertaining, of course it

may have a negative side like it can harm your eye if play for too long but, it

doesn’t really harm your brain. The data show that only minimal percent of the respond

got a low grade and other got A or B, is this mean video game harm their brain? I don’t

think so. The video games is helpful unless you not manage poperly.
