EP-N LORRY UNLOADER / FEEDER “TIREX”
DETAILS
Gambarotta Gschwendt introduces its EP-N rubber-belted apron feeder, specially
designed for efficiently carrying materials discharged by lorries and minimizing spillage
in the loading area.
This machine has been developed to receive various types of bulk materials at yard
level – following rapid-flow discharge off tipper lorries to convey them onto a hauling
and processing plant with controlled, adjustable flow rate. Instead of the high costs
associated with fixed plants mounting a traditional feeder positioned below yard level,
the EP-N conveyor simply requires a small ramp to position the lorry in the discharge
area.

Like all conveyors, the EP-N comes with the following standard features:
- A horizontal or slightly sloping idle station, equipped with a large hopper, suitable
for receiving material discharged by the lorry.
- An inclined section to haul the material to a certain height.
- A drive station that drives the material hauling deck and ensures that the material is
discharged into the hauling or processing plant.
- A material hauling deck consisting of a rubber belt supported by sturdy metallic
plates driven by lateral roller chains equipped with support and guide rollers.

This machine combines the strength of a metallic plate extractor with the retaining
quality of the rubber belt that seals off any potential escape points for even the finest
materials.
The sloping section of the conveyer – usually not very long – can be extended to
increase the temporary storage capacity or to achieve greater discharge heights.

section and a dust filter.

REAR LOADING AREA


Our company is particularly sensitive to issue related
with the machine cleanliness . To this aim, Gambarotta
has developed this model to allow the rear axle of
truck to be positioned over the end of the conveyor. In
this area the conveyor is equipped with a sturdy support
grid capable of withstanding the loads during the
initial discharge phase. This integration between lorry
and conveyor, along with the use of a suitable hopper,
prevents any undesirable loss of material in the loading
area and helps to minimize discharge times so that truck
is set free in a short time.

LEVELLING BLADE
A crossbar (levelling blade) positioned above the conveying
channel, near the drive station, limits the maximum height of
the material, ensuring, with the speed adjustment, the control
of the discharged material flow.

The machine rear end with the lateral drive chains and the
rubber belt anchored to the metallic plates that support the
belt.

DRIVE UNIT
The drive unit mounted on this conveyor/feeder is generally a
variable speed system, and may be of one of the following types:
- Electro-mechanical with a helical bevel gearbox or planetary
gearbox (see picture), coupled with an inverter-fed electrical
motor.
- Hydraulic with a variable capacity pump that drives a hydraulic
piston motor and gearbox or slow-speed hydraulic motor.

FRONT DISCHARGE AREA


Due to the particular width of the machine, it is advisable to position
the downstream conveyor perpendicular to the axis of the EP-N.
Otherwise it will be necessary to increase the height of discharge
point to enable a narrowing of the flow with an inclination of the
sides that is suitable for the type of material being conveyed, as
shown in the side picture.

VARIATIONS TO THE BASIC MODEL


Since the EP-N is a surface machine, any changes to its location can be carried out at a low cost. It can easily be transformed
into a mobile machine if equipped with the appropriate wheel units and towing brackets. This means that a single machine can
be used at various discharge points and at different plants, yielding clear financial benefits. This kind of versatility is particularly
sought-after and appreciated for ports applications.

In order to contain the levels of dust emitted by certain materials, a fully-enclosing cover may be mounted on the upper section
of the machine, in addition to flexible covers to protect the entrance point of the lorry and a dust filter positioned above the
discharge zone.

Plant revamping
Enhancing potential of existing machines
Through its design engineers, Gambarotta Gschwendt implements its know-how and experience to revamp, upgrade and en-
hance machines already installed on plants, whether supplied by us or other manufacturers.

Spare parts
Gambarotta Gschwendt standards include filing of all data relative to manufactured machines, by linking the data to the
