The Grand Japanese Tea Ceremony
Date: Wednesday 17th October 2018 1pm to 5pm
Venue: UNESCO Japanese Garden (tentative), Ségur Hall and Pas Perdus Hall
*In the event of bad weather the ceremony will be held indoors.

Peace is the central theme of the Japanese Garden at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. It was
designed by Isamu Noguchi with “nodate” in mind – the outdoor tea ceremony which has
been part of the Japanese Culture since 1587. The intention behind nodate is to enjoy,
share and embrace the beauty of nature. On this occasion we are honoured to present a Saitama
Grand Tea Ceremony made possible by the special skills of farmers and tea masters from Prefecture

five selected Japanese tea-producing areas. Several teas from different Japanese Shizuoka
mountains and fields, with a wide variety of tastes, will provide a unique experience, Prefecture

enabling the participants to savour natural flavours and to discover, or restore, a Kyoto Aichi

feeling of unity with nature. Wishing all our guests to enjoy the shared experience
of peace of mind through gently supping tea, transcending language, and Kagoshima

providing an easeful path towards a future Creative Journey in Japan.
