RITUUM FOR THE LAUCHING AND TURNOVER RITES OF

THE PILGRIMAGE CROSS IN THE PARISH FOR THE YEAR OF

THE YOUTH 2019

LAUNCHING RITES (TO BE DONE before THE FINAL BLESSING)

Dear Brothers and Sisters:

In solidarity with the Catholic Church in the Philippines as we celebrate the Year of the Youth, in
anticipation of the Fifth Centenary of Christianity of our nation, we shall now launch the Pilgrimage of Youth
Cross in the Parish. As special members of the Church, the young people are given preferential love for they
are the hope of our society and of the Church. The Church recognizes their important role in spreading the
Good News and in living out the teachings of the Church by being beloved, gifted and empowered witnesses of
Christ. Starting today, we shall begin the journey with our prayers that young people may continue to be true
and good servants of the Lord, and that in, their living out the Good News, they may show they are true friends
and disciples of Jesus through the example of his Cross. Let us pray as we welcome the cross full of hope and
love.

***Procession of the Local Cross to the altar draped in silver cloak….a song suitable for the procession may be sung.

STATEMENT OF DECLARATION (by the presider)

Brothers and sisters, let us pray to God: may he continue to protect and watch over our young people
– they who are the great treasures of the Church. May he also guide and protect all those who mold and
help them to be more effective witnesses of Jesus.

TODAY, IN THE SPIRIT OF JOY AND GRATITUDE TO GOD WHO LOVES THE YOUNG, LET US NOW
LAUNCH THE PILGRIMAGE OF THE YOUTH CROSS IN THE PARISH.

May the Blessed Virgin Mary and all the saints guide our efforts as one united Church so that the
journey of Christ with the youth may be fruitful and grace-filled. AMEN.

***the cross bearers will slowly unveil the youth cross and the people applause……the blessing and the incensation follows…

BLESSING AND INCENSING THE CROSS

Our help is in the name of the Lord

Who made heaven and earth.

The Lord be with you

And with your spirit.

Heavenly Father, you sent your Son to us because you love us, and want to save us. By the power of his
cross, free us from sin and let us live each day for you.

We pray to you, Holy Lord, Father almighty, eternal God: Bless (+) this sign of glory , this symbol of the Cross,
that it may be a salutary remedy to humankind; serve to bolster faith, bring forth good works and the
redemption of souls; may it be a means of consolation and protection, and a protection against cruel
weapons of evil. May it be a reminder for us that Jesus died and rose for all and help us to carry our cross
with him every day, and to follow him in serving others.
We ask this grace through Christ our Lord. Amen.

***the presider now sprinkles and incenses the cross and then the prayer of the youth is recited by at least two lectors reading alternately except
for the last 3 paragraphs that will be read by all.
PRAYER OF THE YOUTH

God our Father, we come together as Church, the Body of Christ, and through Your Holy Spirit, we pray
for our young people in this Year of the Youth.

In Your great mercy, You sent Jesus, Your Son, who grew up as a young man among the youth, became
an example for the youth, and consecrated the youth to You.
Hear our young people every time they proclaim:

A: We are BELOVED.
B: We praise You for Your love for us, which saves us and gives meaning to our lives.

A: We are GIFTED.
B: We rejoice over the many gifts You give us, enriching us and our communities.

A: We are EMPOWERED.
B: We accept Your Spirit Who enables us to share Your love and grace especially to other youth.

During this Year of the Youth, help the youth of our nation encounter Christ who always looks at us with
love as He did with the rich young man, the disciples on the road to Emmaus, and those who seek Your
Kingdom.

Form us by Your Holy Spirit into credible guides for our young people, like Mary Magdalene, witness
and missionary of the Resurrection, to be IN MISSION: joyfully proclaiming Christ who died and rose
again.

Nourish us and our young people through Your Word and Eucharist, so we may always choose to be
life-giving, especially to the least, lost and last.

Together with our young people, may we follow the example of our Mother Mary, whose YES to You, O
God, gave way to the fulfillment of Your Divine will.

We make this prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.

St. Pedro Calungsod, patron of Filipino youth, pray for us.

THE FINAL BLESSING

THE LORD BE WITH YOU

AND WITH YOUR SPIRIT.

MAY THE ALMIGHTY GOD BLESS YOU ALL (+) THE FATHER, THE SON, AND THE HOLY SPIRIT

AMEN

OUR CELEBRATION HAS ENDED LET US NOW GO FORTH AND BRING CHRIST LOVE THROUGH HIS SAVING
POWER OF THE CROSS / GO FORTH, THE MASS IS ENDED.

THANKS BE TO GOD.

PYC-X:
We the youth and the people of the _______ have encountered Jesus who stayed with
us and we journeyed with him. It was a special grace and an opportune time that we had come
and worshipped him in love and unity. As we now fulfill our commitment to bring Christ once
again to our fellow young and the community as a whole, we now entrust to your chapel, this
cross, this symbol of Christ’s love and may it bring genuine love, unity and commitment as
Christians that all may be one with him in his love.

ug gihimong balaan nganha Kanimo.

Dungga ang among mga kabatan-onan nga nag-ingon:

A: Kami mga HINIGUGMA

B: Nagadayeg kami kanimo ug sa imong gugma alang kanamo, nga makaluwas
ug naghatag ug kahulugan sa among kinabuhi.

A: Kami mga GIGASAHAN

kanamo ug sa among katilingban.

A: Kami mga GITUGAHAN

Pagkabanhaw, among tahas nga among isangyaw ang kamatayon ug

labing ubos, labing timawa ug labing ulahi.

Diosnong Kabubut-on.

Kini among gi-ampo, pinaagi ni Cristo among Ginoo, Amen.

San Pedro Calugsod, Patron sa Batan-ong Filipino, i-ampo mo kami!)

*** the cross is then placed into the stand, animations or other preparatory liturgy may commence…they may acknowledge the
pilgrims at the point when deemed necessary….the welcoming Mass may proceed as is…blessing of the cross and public veneration
will be done after the Mass.
