cities in the United States
o Many Irish Americans stayed in the Southern Buffalo area after the mankind-
built completion of the Erie Canal.
o Buffalo Irish Center is, “home to over a dozen nonprofit Irish-American
organizations each promoting a different aspect of its culture.”

o Their history. The organization is very well detailed
o The Buffalo Irish Center has collaborated with other organizations surrounding
the western New York area including, YMCA, GAAA, and much more.
o Included with Buffalo Irish Center is, “a pub, a full-service banquet facility, a
cultural and heritage center, a dance studio, and we host concerts, meetings,
and a huge variety of community events.”
o If our client is looking to be a more centralized center for the Irish culture,
Buffalo Irish Center is an organization to follow more closely.
Chicago Gaelic Park

● Mission:
o “To preserve and promote the culture and heritage of Ireland – the Irish
national games, the music, dance, language, literature, theatre, art, and religion
of Ireland.”
● History:
o Has expanded over the years, including banquet facilities and an Irish Pub.
o Many distinguished leaders have made an appearance, such as First Lady Hillary
Clinton and several G.A.A presidents.
o Entertainers from Ireland and Canada and the U.S. have come to perform.
o Participated in the Irish immigration reforms in 1990
o Assisted Ireland’s stamp in honor of the millions of victims of the Irish Famine
and the simultaneous issuance of the stamp in 1999
o A benefactor from an exhibition in memory of the Irish Famine

organization. Instead of a building, could look into a parking facility.
o Has a strong history that has impacted the Irish community

American Irish Historical Society
● Location: New York City, NY

● Mission:
o “A cultural institution featuring a library and archive, public arts programming,
and events space.”
● History:
o Originally founded in 1897
o Was renovated and restored for two years and reopened in March 16, 2008
o The Society was invented to create awareness of the Irish American in one of the
biggest cities in America. Also, created to recognize the achievements of Irish
Americans.
o Enables Irish Immigrants and Irish American to come together as one in the
melting pot of the world as a big support system and active involvement of their
Irish traditions.
o Known nationwide through historic culture and scholarships.
o Theodore Roosevelt became a devoted face to the society. His mother was an
active member and he later followed in her footsteps by becoming the
President.
o Motto of the society, “That the world may know.” The motto means the Irish
Americans contribution to the United States.

o Lectures, piano recitals, event series such as Aids, Irish migration, book readings
related or written by Irish heritance, exhibition of Irish culture
● Why Research American Irish Historical Society?
o The American Irish Historical Society reaches a certain target audience with a
more mature, educational image.
o Similar to ICCC, in 2008 AIHS was renovated and restored. IICC never had a big
success connecting Irish organizations with one another, however just like AIHS,
they didn’t give up and are still running as a society today.
o A different style of events to consider once the organization has a strong
foundation
o AIHS is a good example of having a public figure or opinion leader to represent
the organization. A good suggestion to put forth when beginning the foundation.
Irish American Partnership

● Mission:
o “Works to empower the next generation of Irish leaders by supporting
educational initiatives and community development programs in Ireland North
and South through direct grants to primary schools, science teacher training,

Partnership provides forums for visiting leaders from Ireland to speak in the U.S.,
connecting Irish-Americans with their heritage and promoting economic
development through tourism, trade, and mutual exchange”

Irish American Heritage Center (IAHC)

related programs and partnerships

German American Cultural Foundation (GAC-F)

know-how between German speaking countries and the United States

● About
o Nonprofit organization dedicated to promoting and preserving German language
