Q.1. Determine the fundamental period of the signal x(n) = 1 + e j4π n/7 – e j2π n/5 [3]
Q.2. Find and sketch the even and odd components of the signal x(n) = {4, -2, 4↑, -6} [4]
Q.3. Consider a discrete-time system which is both linear and time invariant. Suppose the output
y(n) due to an input x(n) =δ(n) is given in the figure1.
(a) Determine the output y1(n) due to an input x1(n) = δ(n-1) and plot the same.
(b) Find the output y2(n) due to an input x2(n) = 2δ(n) – δ(n-2). [2 + 2 = 4]

Q.4. A discrete-time system has an impulse response h(n) given by h(n) = 0.5 δ(n) + δ (n-1) + 0.5 δ (n-2)
Find the system frequency response H(ejω) and plot the magnitude and phase response. [4 + 2 + 2 = 8]
Q.5. Derive the impulse response coefficients hD (n) of an ideal high pass filter. [3]
Q.6. An analog low pass filter is characterized by a pair of S-plane poles at P1,2 = -1.4 ± j 1.2936.
It is desired to convert the filter into an equivalent digital high pass filter with band edge
frequencies of 2kHz and 3kHz at a sampling frequency of 15 kHz. Using frequency
transformation and Bilinear Z -transform, determine
(a) the transfer function of the digital high pass filter
(b) Draw the direct form I block diagram realization of the filter.
(c) Determine the difference equation of the digital filter [7 + 3 + 2 = 12]
Q.7. Consider an audio band signal sampled at a rate of 75 KHz. It is required to down rate the
sampling frequency to 5 KHz. The highest frequency of interest after decimation is 2 KHz.
Design a suitable optimum frequency converter which will satisfy the following overall
specifications. Pass band ripple = 0.1; Stop band ripple = 0.01.
Filter length N = -10 log ( δs δp) – 13 + 1 ; where ∆f is the normalized frequency
14.6 ∆f
Draw also the frequency response of the designed filter. [7]
Q.8. With a neat block diagram, explain the internal architecture of the TMS 320C5X processor
[5]
Q.9. With proper examples, explain the various addressing modes available in TMS 320 C 5X
Processors. [4]
