Process of FFS

Preparatory Phase

- A community meeting in the beginning to share the concept, a film show can be used. SHG's
, Community based Group, Farmers Club etc can be targeted.
- CRP/LRP/Progressive farmers orientation (we mention as resource farmer - RF).
- Farmers selection as per need assessment involving the RF.
- Registration of farmers and fee collection.
- Deciding rules and regulations of FFS by the group. Most importantly the collected fees to be
kept where? And what will be the use of it? Selection of Venue/Place for FFS/ time
(Depending upon farmers). Who will be writing the meeting minutes.

Training the resource farmers

- Resource farmers may be trained 3 times. 1st time for the session 1 to 5 as mentioned
above. 2nd time during Kharif on soil-crop-water-pest & disease-post harvest (see the
technical sessions above). This will be repeated during Ravi. RF's can be provided a
certificate and can be treated as a medium duration.
- Resource farmers to be provided with a kit (chart papers, pen, measuring tape, flipchart and
any other relevant material)

Resource farmers conducting FFS

- RF will develop his/her own farm as a SIFS farm and FFS field.
- RF will conduct the first 5 sessions.
- Training duration – 1.5 to 2 hours per day according to the availability.
- Next 19 technical sessions can be conducted as per need and demand. And ideally each
session should happen in the fields of the participating farmers.
- A minutes register and attendance sheet to be maintained by the RF.
- There has to be a notice board/wall painting for FFS in the village.
