Lesson Plan

Demonstration Teaching
Mathematics 7

Date: May 21, 2019 Grade Level: 7

Time: 9:00AM Quarter: Fourth

I. OBJECTIVES

A. Content Standards: The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts, uses

and importance of Statistics, data collection/gathering and the
different forms of data representation, and measures of central
tendency.

B. Performance Standards: The learner is able to collect and organize data systematically
and compute accurately measures of tendency and variability and
these appropriately in data analysis and interpretation in different
fields.

C. Learning Competencies/Objectives: 1. define and understand a relative frequency table and frequency
histogram;
2. value the importance of being organize in our daily living;
3. construct a frequency table and frequency histogram.

II. CONTENT Organizing and Presenting Data Using Frequency Table and
Histogram

III. LEARNING RESOURCES

A. Reference: Grade 7 Math Learning Guide, Advance Algebra Trigonometry

and Statistics
1. Teacher’s Guide Pages: 303-307
2. Learner’s Materials Pages:
3. Textbook Pages:
4. Additional Materials from
Learning Resources (LR) Portal:
5. Other Teaching Materials: Laptop, Projector, Colored Paper, Activity Sheets, Cartolina, Pen

IV. PROCEDURE

A. Daily Routine: 1. Prayer

2. Greetings
3. Cleanliness of the Classroom
4. Checking of Attendance

B. Reviewing the previous lesson Enumerate the different kind of charts or graphs used in
or presenting the new lesson: organizing and presenting data.

C. Establishing a purpose for Presentation and enumeration of the objectives

the lesson:

D. Presenting examples/instances “Election 2019”

of the new lesson: Teacher will give students a colored paper individually. In the
activity, students will vote using the colored paper as ballot
paper then follow by counting the number of votes each
candidate received and record this on the tally sheet.

E. Discussing new concepts and Show a set of data. Ask:

practicing new lesson: 1. What information can you get from the above list?
2. What does it tells us?
F. Developing mastery (leads to FREQUENCY TABLE – a method of organizing raw data in a
formative assessment) compact form by displaying a series of scores in ascending or
descending order, together with their frequencies.

FREQUENCY – the number of times each score occurs in the

respective data.

HISTOGRAM – a vertical bar graph of a frequency distribution

of data values grouped into intervals.

STEPS IN CONSTRUCTING A FREQUENCY TABLE

The following is a list of shoe sizes of 35 boys

7 5 4 4 6 5 4
8 5 5 4 3 5 6
5 3 6 3 2 8 5
6 6 7 4 7 4 5
4 4 2 5 5 6 4

Step 1: Construct a table with three columns.

The shoe sizes maybe be grouped a follows: 1-2, 3-4, 5-6 and
7-8.

Shoe Size Tally Frequency

5-6
7-8

Step2: After constructing a table with three column, go through

the list of data values and place one tally marked at the
appropriate place in the second column for every data. Continue
the process until all data values in the list are tallied.

3-4 IIII – IIII – II
5-6 IIII – IIII – IIII – I
7-8 IIII
Total:

Step 3: Count the number of tally marks for each interval and
write the count in the third column.

3-4 IIII – IIII – II 12
5-6 IIII – IIII – IIII – I 16
7-8 IIII 5

HISTOGRAM

Step 1: Place the data intervals along the horizontal axis.

Step 2: Make the frequency numbers on the vertical axis.

Step 3: Draw rectangles for each interval. The height of the

rectangle is the frequency count of the interval.

G. Finding practical application of Group Activity

concepts and skills in daily living: SML (Share My Learning)

H. Asking generalizations and 1. What are the steps in constructing a frequency table?
abstractions about the lesson: 2. What are the steps in constructing a frequency histogram?

I. Evaluating Learning: Given the set of data, construct a frequency table and histogram
using 6 interval of width 5

28 26 34 41 40 41
34 45 39 30 32 28

J. Additional Activities for The following shows the intelligence quotient (IQ) of 20
application or remediation: students. Construct the frequency distribution and histogram.
Used interval width of 5.

97 90 92 91 92
92 87 100 97 98
101 110 98 93 95
100 93 91 98 105

V. REFLECTION
A. No. of Learners who
earned 80% in evaluation
B. No. of learners who
required additional
activities.
C. Learners who have
caught up with lesson
D. No. of Learners who
continue to require a
remediation
E. What innovation or
localized materials did I
used to discover which I
wish to share with other
teachers?
