With each Revelation-Lesson you have received, you have taken a mighty
step forward. Already you have progressed to a point where you are able to demon-
strate the abstract truth of these instructions. With this installment, your
First Degree Basic Instruction is completed. From this point forward the in-
structions will be more and more concerned with showing you how to apply these
laws to better obtain fulfillment of your desires.

Use these Mayan principles to better yourself and to help those about you.
By giving your help to those you come in contact with, as much as they will permit
you to, you are carrying out Mayan principle and you are also helping yourself.
"Give, and Ye Shall Receive".
When Christ Jesus was walking the earth in His bodily manifestation,
according to ancient writing, His Companions report that before healing the afflict-
ed or performing a miracle of restoration, it was His practice to ask the suppli-
cant, "Is it thy will?". Upon receiving a reply in the affirmative, He would say,
"So be it, according to thy faith". It is well that you require the same declar-
ation from those who desire help through you. "'Believe ye that I am able to do
this?' They said unto Him, 'Yea, Lord'. Then touched He their eyes, saying,
'According to your faith be it done unto you'." (Matthew 9:28,29) Faith is of
the Mind. But it is of more than merely the Conscious Mind; it is overflowing
into Consciousness of the deeper Sub-conscious, Knowing.

YOU
Through these Revelation-Lessons, you are corning to know God as you never
knew Him before. You are coming to realize that God is in You and You are in God.
God, the Spirit, manifesting as Mind, caused You to be made in His Image.

In all Manifestations of His Principle, there is a duality. Fire may be

used to cook your food or to burn down your house. Love and Hate are merely oppo-
site extremes of the ~ emotion, like the two ends of a stick. The One Principle
has many reflections. In Mind, as it occurs in Man, there is also a duality. You
have two parts to your Mind: The Mind that you use (Conscious Mind), and the Mind
that uses you (Sub-conscious Mind).
The greatest chemist on earth cannot tell you how much water you should
drink to make up the loss that occurs through perspiration, or how much water you
require to neutralize the excess salt in salt fish. He cannot tell you how much
of each different element in your food should be absorbed in your blood stream.
He can approximate the body needs of man in general, but to tell you each hour the
exact quantities your body needs - he cannot.

Do IQ.!! Know? Yes, you do. Your Sub-conscious Mind knows exactly. Listen
to it, heed what it tells you and you'll never need a dietician. Do you know how
much energy is discharged when you chop wood or engage in some other rigorous
exercise? Your sub-conscious Mind knows. It knows exactly what the specific
gravity of your blood should be and knows when and how and how quickly to change
the proportions of the elements entering your blood stream to meet any change of
condi tiona. And it £iguree it out £aster than could a "lightning calculator". It
literally performs not thousands, but millions, of these tasks daily.

From the time of your very beginning your Sub-conscious Mind has been
figuring these things out for you. You didn't have to go to school to learn to do
these gigantic problems any more than Adam and Eve did. Mind did them for you,
and will continue to do for you tasks that require knowledge beyond that o£ the
greatest physicists and mathematicians and chemists.

Before you were able to add 2 and 2 1 your Sub-conscious Mind was doing
problems that would leave the famous Professor Einstein aghast. This Mind keeps
your heart beating, your blood stream liquid, your lungs breathing, your stomach
digesting and all the thousand and one things that go on in your system without
your conscious thought. It keepe your hair growing and supplies its roots with
the exact proper amount of food and coloring matter and electrp~agnetic energy.
It instantly knows of the slightest injury that occurs to you, even if you are not
Conscious of an injury, and dispatches blood corpuscles to the needed place in-
stantly and in the proper force to patch up the damage.

If you contract a disease, long before you are Conscious of it, your Sub-
conscious Mind is fighting to overcome it. Let a disease germ enter your body
anywher~ and it is almost instantly surrounded by combatant white blood corpuscles
and the glands of the body are stimulated to pour forth their products as needed
to carry on the f'ight until the invader is overcome. I.f the germ is powerful
enough to resist for a time, greater armies of corpuscles are sent to the scene.
The area is walled off so the germs shall not spread, the "corpses" of the com-
batants are carried off and eliminated, while the battle rages on.

Your Sub-conscious Mind has almost unlimited power, not only for taking
care of you physically, but for acquiring all the good things in Li£e £or you. It
also has power to develop your Consciousness of abilities now dormant within you.
If everyone understood how to use this power, there would be no failures in this
world. If You will master the use of it 1 and turn over to it all your personal
and business affairs in the same way that you give it charge of your physical
body, nothing will be too ~ !2!:, you ~attempt.

STATEMENTS In this Revelation-Lesson we give you statements of world-famous men
ON MIND in many walks of life, which show their agreement with Mayan teach-
ings. These statements are from their own published words, which were
gathered from various sources to be quoted here.
Many leading scientists will be quoted from time to time. Nothing in
these lessons represents "one man's opinion". Knowledge possessed by a few o.f the

ancients is still possessed only by a few today. But those few are all outstand-
ing persons. Those elected worthy of membership in our Order receive this know-
ledge also. It is no secret to them. These early instructions are designed to
make you outstanding, too. First, we labor to make you a material success in the
material world or a££alrs. To give you the means to fUlfill your desires is our
first objective. To enable you to help yourself and your fellow man is our first
desire. When these principles are transmitted to you and you are demonstrating
them to the bene£it o£ all whom you contact, when you have passed beyond the or-
dinary demands of everyday life and attained material and monetary freedom, then
The Mayans will lead you step by step into the highest realms of metaphysical
lore. '

But, for the present, we are concerned with transmitting to you instruc-
tions to develop your abilities to heal, to materialize, and to understand. The
more thoroughly this groundwork is instilled in your Consciousness, the more
successfully will you manifest it, to the honor of yourself and our Order, to the
benefit of Man and to the glory of God.

Do you desire material wealth? You £!a have it.

Do you desire to
heal the sick? You ~do it. Do you desire to be a prodigy or a
genius? You ~ be. The principles governing these things are
what we transmit to you in the Third Degree.
"The smartest man in the world is the Man Inside" 1 said Dr. Frank Crane
in an article in "Liberty" some years ago. "By the Man Inside I mean that Other
Man within each of us that does most of the things we give ourselves credit for
doing. You may refer to him as Nature or the Sub-conscious Self or think of him
merely as Force or Natural Law or, if you are religiously inclined, you may use
the term God.
11 1 could not do that. I do not even know how he does it. He even doe5 it
for babies that know nothing at all; in fact, he does it better for them than for
me.

"No living man knows enough to make toe-nails grow, but the Man Inside
thinks nothing of growing nails and teeth and thousands of hairs all over my body;
long hairs on my head and the little fuzzy ones over the rest of the surface of
the skin.

"When I practice on the piano 1 I am simply getting the business of piano

playing over from my Conscious Mind to my Sub-conscious Mind; in other words, I
am handing the business over to the Man Inside.
11 Most o£ our happiness, as well as our struggles and misery, comes £rom

this Man Inside. If we train him in ways of contentment, adjustment and decision,
he will go ahead of us like a trained servant and do for us easily most of the
difficult tasks we have to perform."

The power of the Sub-conscious Mind is like electricity. Electricity used

one way, will light your home, run your machinery and perform many useful tasks.
Used in another way it is capable of destroying, even killing. The Negative and
the Positive, the useful and the destructive are also represented in the duality
of Electricity. Your Sub-conscious Mind has similar characteristics that are

controlled by your Conscious Mind. Fear something, and you get the very thing
you fear. Have Faith present in your Consciousness, and you materialize that.
"What you expect is what you'll get."
An often quoted statement of Dr. Winbigler on the Sub-conscious Mind follows:
11 It is this Mind that oarries on the work o:f assimilation
and up-building whilst we sleep ••••••
"It reveals to us things that the Conscious Mind has no
conception of until the consummations have occurred.
"It can communicate with other Minds without the ordinary
physical means.
"It gets glimpses of things that ordinary sight does not
behold.
"It makes God's presence an actual, realizable fact and
keeps the personality in peace and quietness.
"tt warns of approaching danger.
"It approves or disapproves of a course of conduct or
conversation.
11 It carries out all the best things whioh are given to it,

providing the Conscious Mind does not intercept and change

the course of its manifestation.
"It heals the body and keeps it in health, if it is at all
encouraged."

Another book by the Reverend William T. Walsh says:

"The Sub-conscious part in us is called the Subjective Mind, because
it does not decide and command. It is a subject rather than a ruler. Its nature
is to do what it is told 2£. ~really in your ~ 2£. hearts you desire.
"The Sub-conscious Mind directs all the vital processes of your body. You
do not think Consciously about your breathing. Every time you take a breath, you
do not have to reason, decide, command. The Sub-conscious Mind sees to that. You
have not been conscious at all that you have been breathing while you have been
reading this page. So it is with the Mind and the circulation of blood. The heart
is a muscle like the muscle of your ar.m. It has no power to move itself or to
direct its action. Only Mind, only something that can think, can direct our
muscles, including the heart. You are not conscious that you are commanding your
heart to beat. The Sub-conscious Mind attends to that. And so it is with the
assimilation of food, the building and repairing of the body. In fact, all the
vital processes are looked after by the Sub-conscious."
INTUITION Why is it that women usually have an easier time developing the use of
this great Sub-conscious Mind? For the same reason that women are
naturally more intuitive than men. For intuition is only the voice of
the Sub-conscious speaking. Learn to listen to it, not to indulge in wild guesses
or flights of fancy, but to listen to the eternal wisdom of Sub-conscious know-
ledge.
The only difference between yourself and some great musician, some great
composer, some genius of invention, is that they learned to listen to "The still

small voice within". Whatever you demand of it, it is able to deliver.

Periodically your newspapers carry stories of some prodigy, perhaps a

"lightning calculator", perhaps a "miracle man" who heals others by his touch,
perhaps a woman 11 gi.fted with prophecy". We think o.f them as something approaching
the super-normal. They are not. They are more normal than the rest of us, for we
should all be able to do these things. We have the ability deep in our Sub-con-
scious Mind. We need only learn to express it.

PRODIGIES If you are interested in such cases, read Dr. Hudson's book "The Law
AND of Psychic Phenomena". It is packed with cases similar to the follow-
GENIUSES ing: "Of mathematical prodigies there have been upward of a score
whose calculationa have surpassed in rapidity and accuracy those of
the greatest educated mathematicians. These prodigies have done their greatest
feats while but children from three to ten years old. In no case had these boys
any idea how they performed their calculations and some of them would converse on
other subjects while doing the sum. (Such sums as dividing 8,352,664 by 421.6312
are commonly done in less time than it takes to write down the figures). Two of
these boys became men of eminence, while some of them showed but a low degree o.f
objective intelligence.
"Whately spoke of his own gift in the following terms: 'There was cer-
tainly something peculiar in my calculating faculty. It began to show itself at
between five and six, and lasted about three years. I soon got to do the most
difficult sums, always in my head, for I knew nothing of figures beyond numeration.
I did these sums much quicker than anyone could on paper and I never remember com-
mitting the smallest error. When I went to school, at which time the passion wore
off, I was a perfect dunce at cyphering and have continued so ever since'.
"Professor Safford became an astronomer. At the age of ten he worked
correctly a multiplication sum whose answer consisted of thirty-six figures.
Later in life he could perform no such feats.
"Benjamin Hall Blyth, at the age of six, asked his father at what hour he
was born. He was told that he was born at four o'clock. Looking at the clock to
see the present time, he informed his father of the number of seconds he had lived.
His father made the calculation and said to Benjamin, 'You are wrong 172,000
seconds 1 • The boy answered, "Oh papa, you have left out two days for the Leap
Years 1820 and 1824 1 , which was the case.
"Then there is the celebrated case of Zerah Colburn, of whom Dr. Schofield
writes: 'Zerah Colburn could instantaneously tell the square root o.f 106,929 sa
327 and the cube root of 268,336,125 as 645. Before the question of the number
of minutes in forty-eight years could be written, he said 25,228,810. He immedi-
ately gave the factors of 247,483 as 941 and 263, which are the only two He
could not tell how the answer came to his mind. He could not, on paper, do
simple multiplication or division. 111
When the day arrives when the powers of Mind are better understood, our
schools will teach the cultivation of these powers, rather than anything resembling

our present system. A step in this direction has already been taken, with the
introduction of the new system of mathematics (MOdern Math) into the school curri-
culum. Whether or not this is a step in the right direction remains to be seen,
but we realize that all advancement, all new ideas, come as revealments, as though
~rom some inexhaustible reservoir far beyond Consciousness.

Thomas Edison used to speak of "tapping the .Infinite" for ideas. Nicholas
Teals, the great inventor, never claimed personal credit ~or his inventions - he
usually spoke of them as discoveries, or revelations that "come" to him. Marconi,
Madam Curie, many others of the world's great scientists had similar beliefs.
The famous Dr. Jung of Vienna, has stated that the Sub-conscious contains,
in addition to the knowledge gathered in this life, all the wisdom of ages past.
He also came to the discovery that by drawing on its power and wisdom, a person
may possess any good thing in life, from health and happiness to riches and
success.
Remember that this Mind is the manifestation of God Within us. Conceive
of Mind as a vast ether that fills all space and the Conscious part of this Mind
as the part that ties you to this tremendous, eternal sea of wisdom. Understand-
ing of this - complete understanding is necessary. You must be literally drenched
and soaked with understanding if you are to use this principle to the fullest
extent.
Charles M. Barrows, in the book "Suggestion Instead of Medicine", has the
following to say: "If man requires another than his ordinary Consciousness to
take care of him while asleep, not less useful is this same psychical provision
when he is awake. Many persons are able to obtain knowledge which does not come
to them through their senses in the usual way, but arrives in the Mind by direct
communication from another Conscious intelligence, which apparently knows more of
what concerne their welfare than their own reason does. I have known a number of
persons who, like myself, could tell the contents of letters in their mail before
opening them. Several years ago a friend of mine came to Boston for the first
time, arriving at wha·t was then the Providence railroad station in Park Square.
He wished to walk to the Lowell station on the opposite side of the city. Being
utterly ignorant of the streets as well as the general direction to take, he con-
fidently set forth without asking the way, and reached his destination by the most
direct path. In doing this, he trusted solely to 'instinctive guidance' as he
called it and not to any clues or hints obtained from anywhere but through the
senses."
INSTINCT It is this same "instinctive guidance" that leads a dog across the
continent to rejoin his master who left him behind. Or the "instinct-
ive guidance" that causes a pigeon to return to its home after being released in
an utterly strange country, hundreds of miles away. Or, as William McDougall in
"Psychology, the Study of Behavior" states: "Going to a stage lower in the scale
of life, consider the salmon which, in due season, having attained a certain stage
of development in a remote and distant sea, returns to the mouth of the river
where it was spawned, ascends the stream to deposit its eggs in the bed of some
remote tributary. The ascent of a large and swift river containing many rapids and
waterfalls involves ceaseless and varied efforts extending through a period of
many weeks."
 Again quoting Dr. Hudson: "This is a power that transcends reason and is
independent of deduction. Instances of its development might be multiplied in-
definitely. Enough is known to warrant the conclusion that when the soul is
released from its objective environment it will be enabled to perceive all the
laws of its being, to 'see God as He is' by the perception of the laws which He
has instituted. It is the knowledge of this power which demonstrates our true
relationship to·God, which confers the warranty of our right to the title 'Sons
of God', and confirms our inheritance of our rightful share of His attributes and
powers our heirship o£ God our joint heirship with Jeaua Christ."

YOUR Warren Hilton in "Applied Psychology" says: "Considered from the

POSSIBILI- standpoint of its activities, the Sub-conscious is that department
TIES of Mind which on the one hand directs the vital operations of the
body and on the other conserves, subject to the call of interest and
attention, all ideas and complexes not at the moment active in Consciousness.
"Observe, the possibility that lies before you. On the one hand, if you
can control your Mind in its Sub-conscious activities, you can regulate the opera-
tion of bodily efficiency and free yourself of functional disease. On the other
hand, if you can determine just what ideas shall be brought forth from Sub-con-
sciousness into Consciousness, you can thus select the materials out of which will
be woven your Conscious judgments your decisions and your emotional attitudes.

Beloved Companion:
You are progressing in your studies. You have passed your first test.
Your first test was one that you were not aware of. The first password which
you are given herewith will reveal what part of your Character was tested and
found true. This word represents the first principle of the Mayan. It is the
first of a trinity of words used by Mayans of the Third Degree. Memorize it in
preparation for your initiation, soon to come.

Decipher this, according to the secret key you have been given. Mem-
orize it. Do not reveal it. Speak it only if challenged by Companions in the
Order. Upon your initiation, you will be given a sign whereby you will be en-
abled to recognize Brother Mayans and they you, even though you are otherwise
strangers.
This first of the Third Degree passwords contains ~ letters. Its
symbology is this: From the most remote periods the number three has been cele-
brated among the sages. Three times three had no less celebrity. According to
the ancients, each of the three elements that constitute our bodies was fo~ed
of three - none of the three elements being entirely separated from the others.
All material being composed of these three elements, each of which is triple,
may be designated by the figurative number of ~ ~ three, which has become
the symbol of all fo~tion of bodies. Therefore, the name, "the Ninth Envelope",
has been given to matter. Every material extension, every circular line has for
its representative sign the number nine in the system taught in ancient Greece by
Pythagoras, who had observed the property this number possesses of reproducing
itself incessantly and entire in every multiplication. It, by this property, .-~
offers a striking emblem for matter, which is incessantly composed before our
eyes after having undergone a thousand decompositions. This will be explained
more fully in your next lesson.
The number nine was consecrated to the Spheres and Muses. It is the sign
of every circumference as illustrated by the fact that a circle or 360 degrees is
equal to 9. 3 + 6 + 0 = 9. It is also an emblem of the frailty of human affairs.
The ancient Jewish Kabbala considered 9 as symbolizing the generative egg of
which you will learn more in later Revelation-Lessons.
You have overcome the first o£ human £railties as shown by the fact that
