MUSICAL ANALYSIS OF MAKE THOSE BODIES SING

1. What is the instrumentation in this jingle?

The instrument that I can hear is a trumpet

2. What is the main hook in this jingle? If it is in words, write it, and if it has pitch describe it
(e.g, has 3 pitches and goes up, down, then back up).

“Make those bodies sing”

3. What is the rhythm of an important ‘hook’ in this jingle? (e.g., “Oh what a feeling, Toyota”.)
Notate this rhythm neatly using traditional notation in your music book OR use graphical
notation to represent the rhythm on staff paper. If using traditional notation, choose a time
signature, use the correct number of beats in each measure and demonstrate correct bar line
placement. If using graphic notation, choose graphics that clearly show how the rhythm is
heard.

4. Comment on the use of pitch in this jingle. Is there much variation? Is it mostly high or low
pitched?

The pitch is always high in the jingle. It’s mostly high because it’s basically like a choir. Therefore
many people are singing in a high pitched voice which is making the jingle’s pitch high

5. What is the tone colour in this jingle

The tone colour is low and dry because of the trumpet but it’s also clear

6. What background music or sound effects are used in this commercial?

There are no sound effects used but there are a lot of people singing in different pitches in
different parts of the song. They are saying ‘banana’ repeatedly in the background.
7. Write down the lyrics or tagline of this jingle.

Banana, banana, ba-nana,

Make those bodies sing (make those bodies sing)

Banana, banana, ba-nana

Banana, banana, make those bodies sing

Ba ba ba ba ba ba

ba-ba-ba

Ba ba ba ba ba ba

Make those bodies sing

(Man singing banana repeatedly)

Make those bodies sing

8. How do each of the musical elements you have identified (instrumentation, hook, rhythm,
pitch, tone colour, background music/sound effects, lyrics and/or tagline) relate to the
commercial product being advertised?

The Jingle has a catchy catch phrase (make those bodies sing) which helps banana’s being
advertised and also they use the word ‘banana’ a lot so it also helps the product being
advertised. The background music effects the advertisement a lot because without the
background music the song would not be so catchy.

9. Who do you think the target audience for this product is? Explain your answer

I think that the audiences are kids because I feel like the song would attract the youth more
because the world banana is being repeated over and over throughout the song. The kids might
find this funny and it would get stuck in your head. Kids could also relate the banana concept to
the minions.
