1 Main rules

Overhead transmission lines and its parts shall be viewed in the line direction. Always
from lower to higher tower number.

Numbering of stays, foundation, tower legs, main member and insulator sets are based
on the bisector line on the left and numbered sequentially clockwise.

When multiple lines are built together in the same tower, crossarms and conductors
are designated for the line it belongs to.

2 Tower leg

Tower leg is designated:

V=Left (Vänster)
M=Middle (Mitten)
H=Right (Höger)

Tower leg who consist of more than one leg is numbered sequentially clockwise start-
ing from the bisector line.

TEKNISK RIKTLINJE 2016-05-20 TR05E-20 utg 1

6/20
3 Foundation and main member

Foundations and main members is designated in the same way as tower legs.
V=Left
M=Middle
H=Right

Foundations for tower leg with more than one foundation is numbered sequentially
clockwise starting from the bisector line.

TEKNISK RIKTLINJE 2016-05-20 TR05E-20 utg 1

7/20
4 Stay

Stays is designated. Leg, Function, No

Leg = V, M, H
Function = T topp stay, F fase stay, K buckling/support stay
N0. = Tower leg with several stays with the same function the stays shall be numbered
sequentially clockwise starting from the bisector line.

For stay between tower legs the stay belongs to the leg which the upper end is attached
to.

TEKNISK RIKTLINJE 2016-05-20 TR05E-20 utg 1

8/20
5 Stay anchor termination

Stay anchor termination is designated as stays with the completion that for stay anchor
termination at upper end of stays Ö is written after the code.

Ö=Upper (Övre)

Ex. VT1Ö

6 Stay anchor

Stay anchor is designated as stays with the completion that for stay with common anchor
for two or more stays all legs and functions are indicated.

9/20
7 Crossarm

7.1 Shield wire crossarm

Shield wire crossarm is designated from left to right per transmission line.

TEKNISK RIKTLINJE 2016-05-20 TR05E-20 utg 1

10/20
7.2 Phase crossarm
Phase crossarm is designated from left to right per transmission line.

8 Conductor

8.1 Shield wire

Shield wire is designated from left to right from top to bottom per tower.

TEKNISK RIKTLINJE 2016-05-20 TR05E-20 utg 1

11/20
8.2 Phase
Phase is designated from left to right per transmission line.

TEKNISK RIKTLINJE 2016-05-20 TR05E-20 utg 1

12/20
8.3 Phase conductor
Phase conductor included in duplex, triplex or quadrupel configuration is designated
with phase conductor No followed by conductor designation.

Ex. 2c

At angle towers shall one imagine that the insulator set is hanging free unloaded.

Example:

9 Vibration damper

Vibration damper is designated with No followed by which side of the tower it is

mounted on.

Number is designated away from the tower.

TEKNISK RIKTLINJE 2016-05-20 TR05E-20 utg 1

13/20
10 Spacer

Spacer is designated with the number for the tower after the spacer followed by in line
direction. Phase, group, spacer.

Ex. Tower 37, Phase 2, Spacer 2b

TEKNISK RIKTLINJE 2016-05-20 TR05E-20 utg 1

14/20
11 Conductor joint

Conductor joint is designated with the number for the tower after the joint followed by
phase, conductor, No

When it is only one joint in the span the joint No does not need to be mentioned.

TEKNISK RIKTLINJE 2016-05-20 TR05E-20 utg 1

15/20
12 Insulator set

12.1 Suspension set

Suspension set is designated as phase.

12.2 Tension set

Tension set is designated as suspension set followed by which side of the tower it is on.

F=Before (Före)
E=After (Efter)

TEKNISK RIKTLINJE 2016-05-20 TR05E-20 utg 1

16/20
12.3 Transposition set
Transposition set is designated as Tension set.

TEKNISK RIKTLINJE 2016-05-20 TR05E-20 utg 1

17/20
12.4 Insulator string
Suspension string
Insulator string in suspension set is designated clockwise starting from the bisector
line.

TEKNISK RIKTLINJE 2016-05-20 TR05E-20 utg 1

18/20
Tension and transposition string
Insulator string in tension and transposition set is designated clockwise starting from a
imagined horizontal line seen through center of the set in the line direction.

TEKNISK RIKTLINJE 2016-05-20 TR05E-20 utg 1

19/20
12.5 Insulator element
Insulator element is designated starting from the tower.

Insulator element in transposition set is

designated in the element direction
(normally from the nearest tower).

12.6 Jumper set

Jumper set is designated as phase. When it is several jumper set in the same jumper
the order is indicated with a, b, c in the line direction.

12.7 Post insulator

Post insulator is designated as phase. When it is several post insulator in the same
tower the order is indicated with a, b, c in the line direction.
