Installation of “pc2maty player”

The Pc2maty player is available from the download section of Vity website, or can be
requested by email.

Installation must be made using “Administrator” account, otherwise registry settings won’t
be properly set.

During installation, the “Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package” will be
installed, if it is already present on your system you will be prompted to “repair” or
“uninstall” in that case just press the “Cancel” button to skip that part.

At the end of installation the pc2maty player will be launched once to setup license
information and registry settings, if you have not launch using an administrator account, you
will have to manually launch it once after switched to an administrator account.

The file “changes.txt” will be open by Notepad, this text file describe the changes of your
installed version, be sure to read it for last minute information.

License

About licenses

Pc2maty player is distributed in the form of license; license for pc2maty player is included
when purchasing a Vity Tactum panel, but if you want to install it on a Pc or on a tablet not
provided by Vity you will have to purchase a license (1 license per Pc or tablet).

Pc2maty player can be used for demo or testing purpose without the need to activate the
license, you will be reminded that the license is not activated every 30 minutes or so, just
press the OK button to use it for another round 30 minutes.

When using with pc2maty (v3.04 or greater), the pc2maty player let you test your project
connected to the controllers by LAN, it is a great way to debug your automation projects.
When used thru pc2maty no license activation is needed.

License activation

To activate a license, go to the start menu of Windows and select “Vity -> Pc2maty player ->
License - > Activate player license”

You can also launch the pc2maty player directly, if license is not activated it will prompt you
to do so.

Note the License number (this license number change every time you install the player onto
a new Pc or Tablet) and send it to us (by email, phone or fax), after the license purchase we
will send you by email the activation key. When the activation key is entered the license is
activated and the player can be fully used.

How to remove or transfer a license?

If you need to transfer a pc2maty player license from one pc to another or from one tablet
to another one, you need first to remove the installed license before being able to activate
the new one.

To remove a license, go to the start menu of Windows and select “Vity -> Pc2maty player ->
License - > remove player license”

You will be prompted to confirm that you want to remove the license and it will give you an
“uninstall confirmation code”, please note this code as it can be asked by Vity as a proof that
you have properly remove the license (this uninstall confirmation code can also be found in
the text file “VITYLICENSE.txt” located at the root of your hard disk).

Project installation

When you compile your project with pc2maty, pc2maty gives you the file with the extension
“.p2mplayer”, copy this file on the target Pc or tablet then dbl-click on it, the player will be
automatically started :

Select “Install as default” if you want that player will start this project by default (the project
will be installed in the folder “c:\vity\pc2maty_project\default.vty”), when running the
player without parameter this “default”” project will be launched.

Select “Install as secondary” to install if you don’t want the player to start this project by
default (the project will be installed in the folder “c:\vity\pc2maty_project\nameofpanel.vty”
where nameofpanel will be replaced by the name of your panel), to launch this project you
will have to manually by dbl-clicking on the “projet.p2mrun” inside this folder (you can also
create a shortcut on this file and place it on the desktop for easy launch of your project.

Project playback

If you run the pc2maty player without any parameter it will automatically open and play the
project that has been installed as “default” project (see project installation).

You can, alternately, start any project by dbl-clicking on their “projet.p2mrun” file; this file is
located in the folder where you have installed the project.

If dbl-clicking on a “projet.p2mrun” file doesn’t start the player automatically, you will have
to verify that you have properly installed the pc2maty player and made sure to have launch
it at least once using an Administrator account.

Player startup

When the player start it will first load your project and display the 1st window (the window
specified as “Home” window in pc2maty), the player is not yet “active” and if you press on
buttons at this moment the player will not react : the player need first to initialize the
devices and memories of your project, depending on the size of your project and on the type
of panel this stage can take up to 15 seconds.

If your project need to connect to a Vity controller and the player is not able to connect to
them then a warning message will be displayed and the touch will be locked until the player
can detect at least 1 Vity controller

If you have setup your project to run in “demo” mode then this message will not be
displayed and the screen will not be locked even if no Vity controller can be found on the
network… in this case expect some latency in the execution of your commands.

Menus and tweaks of Pc2maty player

Pc2maty player have a few menu and commands accessible.

Popup menu of pc2maty player can be displayed by doing a right-click during at least 5
seconds (if your right-click is shorter than 5 seconds then the menu won’t appear).

Some of the tweaks can also be accessible thru the xml configuration file “Pc2maty.config”,
this file can be edited with any text editor such as notepad.

Full screen mode

Pc2maty player can run in fullscreen mode or windowed, by default it runs fullscreen on
Tactum panels but windowed on a Pc.

Default setting can be found in the “pc2maty.config” file in the line “STARTUPCONFIG” :

You can change the fullscreen parameter to "yes" or "no" depending if you want the player
to start in fullscreen mode or not.

You can temporarily change the fullscreen mode of the player by selection the option
“fullscreen” of the popup menu or by pressing the [F] key on your keyboard.

Mouse cursor visibility

By default mouse cursor is not visible when running on a Tactum panel but is visible when
player is running on a Pc.

Default setting can be found in the “pc2maty.config” file in the line “STARTUPCONFIG” :

You can change the force2showcursor parameter to "yes" or "no" depending if you want the
player to display the mouse cursor or not.

You can temporarily change the mouse cursor visibility mode of the player by selection the
option “force cursor visible” of the popup menu.

Demo mode

By default the player need to connect to Vity controller to work, if you need to present your
project but without the connection to a Vity controller, you need to run the player in demo
mode.

Demo mode can be activated thru the settings of your project in pc2maty (see your
touchpanel properties).

Demo mode default setting can also be changed from the “pc2maty.config” file in the line
“STARTUPCONFIG” :

You can change the demomode parameter to "yes" or "no" depending if you want the player
to start in demo mode or not.

Infrared learning

The player can display a special window that let you learn the infrared code programmed
into your project.

To activate the Infrared management window, select the option “Infrared management” of
the popup menu or press the key [I] of your keyboard

In the list (1), you will find the listing of the infrared code declared in your project, select the
one that you want to verify or learn.

Select the kind of function you want to do (2) on the selected code, you can verify a code (a
command will be send to the appropriate Vity controller to play the code, this works only if
the code has been previously learned), or learn a code.

During learning the infrared window changes

You can press the “Verify code” button to verify the code you have just learned, or the
“Retry same code” to learn again the code in case the code was not ok, or “Proceed next
code” to start learning the next code in the list. Press the “Return” button to go back to the
main list.

About infrared code learning:

Code can be learned using 2 methods: normal or forced :

 The normal mode will tell the Vity controller to try to recognize the code when
learning, the code quality is better but it works with only 30% of the remote on
the market, so most of the time you will have to use the “forced” mode.

 The forced mode will tell the Vity controller to learn the code the way you play it
(so if you press a long time on the remote, it will learn a long code and if you
press a short time on the remote then the learned code will be short).

When selecting the learn mode, a special command is sent to the appropriate Vity controller
(or panel if the IR device is connected to a panel IR output) to make go to learn mode.

Once in learning mode, the Vity controller (or panel) will wait for infrared data, take the
remote of the device, face the infrared receiver of the Vity controller (or panel), be sure right
in front of the receiver and at a distance between 5 cm to 10 cm, and then press a short time
on the remote key during ½ second if you are learning in “forced” mode or until the
controller goes out of learn mode if you are learning in “normal” mode.
