Itinerary: Day 1 – Puno to Uros and Amantani Islands
At 7:30am you will be picked up at Bothy Hostel in
Puno (clean hostel with pancake breakfast) and
driven to the harbor. After a brief introduction to the
guide the journey will begin to Uros Island. You will
arrive at Uros island after a 1 hour motorboat ride,
and there you will get a first hand look at island
building techniques and their solar power uses. From
Uros you will have the option to take a ride on a
traditional totora reed raft to a nearby island (10/s ).
After another 2-3 hour motorboat ride you will arrive
at the island of Amantani.
Overnight – Family home-stay, Amantani Island
Upon arrival to the island of Amantani you will be introduced to
your host family and taken to their home for a rest. For many
people the home-stay is a revelation of the reality of the Andean
people of Lake Titicaca – there is no running water, electricity
and of course no toilets or showers!
In the afternoon you can take a 1 hour hike up Pachatata
mountain for fantastic views of the sunset over Lake Titicaca –
but don’t forget your flashlight for the walk back to the town! A
traditional dinner will be served in your host family’s home,
followed by a party in the main square - you can dress up in
traditional costumes and meet the local people.
Day 2 – Taquile to Puno
After breakfast with your host family in Amantani you will
take the 1 hour motorboat ride to Taquile Island. On the
island there is a great market with good quality
souveniers – but be aware that prices are fixed here, so
no bartering! Lunch is not included and will be at a
restaurant on the island (15/s) with veggie and meat
options.
The boat back to Puno leaves at 1pm from the main dock
– 538 steps down! Make sure to bring water and snacks
for the trip.
Back in Puno a van will be waiting at the harbor to take
you back to your hostel.
Full Day Uros and Taquile Islands

fantastic market. After lunch (not included) you
