To Whom It May Concern:

I am delighted to write this letter of support and recommendation for Anikia Brown as a candidate
for ASAE’s NextGen Association Summit. As a former colleague of Anikia at the American Nurses
Association (ANA), I’ve had the pleasure of working closely with her and there are many things that
impress me about her. I will focus on a few.

Anikia exudes strong leadership skills and great character in all aspects of her career in the
association community. She has found and continues to find innovative ways to amplify and propel
associations forward using her passion and expertise in marketing and communications. In 2017,
she led the rebranding of the American Nurses Association (ANA), which is now known as the ANA
Enterprise. During the same year, she also led the launch of the ANA’s Healthy Nurse Healthy
Nation Grand Challenge, a social movement dedicated to transforming the health of our nation by
improving the health of nurses which to this day is reaching new heights with over 250,000
participants and 350 partners. Most recently, as Marketing Manager, Anikia led the rebranding of
the American Psychological Association’s (APA) Annual Convention to modernize its visual
appearance, reshape its story and messaging, adapt to new market trends, and reengage and
connect with existing, new, and potential members.

When Anikia is not on the clock she continues to exude leadership, engagement, and excellence in
the association world and in her community. As an active ASAE member, she has led two sessions
as a content leader and has volunteered to judge and review the great work of her association
peers. She is the newly appointed Marketing Director of Young Mothers Inc., a small non-profit in
the Washington D.C. area, and most recently was granted the opportunity to start the Washington
D.C. chapter for the Association for Women in Communications (AWC).

Without reservation, I fully support and recommend Anikia in her pursuit for selection into the
NextGen Association Summit. I have observed her to be an ambitious leader who is dedicated to
advancing not only her organization, but also the association community at large. Not only is she an
organic leader and a trusted professional, she boasts strong communication with peers, colleagues,
and executive leaders, which makes her a trusted associate and professional.
