SINAUT LSX -
EDC stands for „Event Driven Now also available with PCS 7 AS
Communication“ and guarantees
an efficient communication and
ontime processing in co-operation
with the process control system
SINAUT LSX.

SINAUT® LSX has proven itself in

many plants in the water business
as a sector-specific process con-
trol- and control point system
since 1993. Until today automa-
tion and remote action systems
on the basis of SIMATIC® S5 were
employed. Together with the mi-
gration component SIWA-PAS
EDC, SINAUT LSX can, now, also
be extended with the automation
devices of the PCS 7 AS-series.
The term SIWA-PAS comprises
the systems of the process auto-
mation by Siemens in the water
business.
SIWA-PAS EDC
SIWA-PAS EDC consists of the
following software components:

SINAUT LSX for the process

 Adapt-Module PCS 7-Components Migration Strategy

SIWA-PAS EDC realizes the
connection of PCS 7-controls to
SINAUT LSX. This component is
released in all LSX-configura-
tions from version 2.33/ 2.43.
Here, PCS 7-technology can be
employed parallel to the existing
automation- and remote action
systems. The LSX-logging system
was extended with the paramete-
rization of the S7-line.
EDC-Operation System
The EDC-operation system reali-
zes the event driven communi-
cation of the automation systems
to the control system. On the oc-
casion of a state alteration in the
process, the automation system
creates a time stamp, which en-
ables an ontime processing in the
control system. This guarantees
an exact observation of the pro-
cess, since the values are listed in
curves and report windows in real
time. Calculation values and ar-
chives are being adjusted with the
help of the time stamp in case of
late transmission.
Through the saving of unneces-
sary telegrams, system resources
are being spared and the perfor-
mance of the plant configuration
is increased.
Acknowledgements can either be
implemented centrally via the
control system or decentrally.
The automation systems can be
ordered pre-mass-produced and
tested - this simplifies the order
procedure, since the compilation
of individual modules can be left
out.
The object driven parameteriza-
tion of the automation systems is
carried out with the help of the
fully-graphic project planning tool
of SIMATIC PCS 7. This allows
planning with “Drag and Drop”
and central loading and modifi-
cation of the automation systems
via the plant bus. This generali-
zation leads to significant savings
during the project planning, modi-
fication and maintenance of the
software.

Apart from SIWA-PAS EDC, fur-
ther migration components for
SINAUT LSX are available, which
enable an extension of plants to
the state-of-art technology. Other
parts of the migration strategy
are:
• SIWA-PAS FEP
(Front-End-Processor):
The PC-based MTU for the
connection of SINAUT RTUs.
• SIWA-PAS OS:
The PC-based workstation with
Windows NT as the operating
system and WinCC as visuali-
zation software.
