MEM575: Group assignment– Industrial applications of operations management

techniques.

Objective: To expose students to the practical applications of the operations management

techniques studied in class.

Task:
Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii) is interested to invest in
corporate gift produced by the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. In order to do this,
write a proposal report on the feasibility study of the capability of the faculty to produce
corporate gift to MARii. The requirement of the design should be as follows:

1) To have these image on the corporate gift (clearer image please refer the
assignment folder in I-Learn).

2) The design must be authentic and must use if possible as much as possible
machines and engineering processes available in the faculty.
3) The report must include the availability of all the 4M (Material, Machine,
Methods, Manpower and Measurement).
4) The report must include why the faculty and MARii should choose your design in
stead of others.

Use all the operations management techniques that you have studied in this course from
the 10 chapters that you have learnt. Show (analyze and explain with appropriate
illustrations (diagrams/photos/figures, etc.)) how the techniques are applied in practice in
the producing this product (you need to properly acknowledge all the references that you
use in your report).
