Rhythm Composition

Instructions:
With a partner create 2 complimentary, 2 measure rhythms to be played along with
the song of your choice from this list below. Each song is in a different meter and has
different requirements. Be sure to carefully read the requirements of each song.

PART 1:
1. Pick the song you will accompany with your rhythm composition. Determine the
type of meter it is by listening to the song and filling in the blanks.

2. Fill out the rhythm values and counting of the rhythm options for your chosen
song
“High Hopes” by Panic! At the Disco:

PART 2: Composition
Compose a 2 measure rhythm in your songs meter. These rhythms should compliment
each other by using different patterns and rests. Use the possible rhythm combinations
listed with your song in part 1.

1. Write a rhythm using the correct amount of beats per measure on your individual
work slide. Make sure you use at least 3 of the given rhythms.
2. Add words to your rhythm to help you learn it. Make sure the amount of syllables
match the amount of notes.
3. Practice your rhythm individually as a loop (repeating over and over)
4. Practice your rhythm as a loop at the same time as your partner
5. Record your rhythm with your song in the background and submit it on FlipGrid
