Hi everyone 494 3

i'm about to starting a new
A subreddit about Fria Ligans Coriolis
campaign; my goal actually is to play
tabletop RPG
some "introductory adventures" and
culminating first part of the
JOIN
campaign with Emissary Lost.
I started reading the introduction of
CREATE POST
the book but not yet the whole book
because at the moment i'm working
on previous adventures (and at the R/CORIOLISRPG RULES
moment my language version is not
out yet and reading long part in
1. Relevancy
english is not so easy, plus dunno
how will be translated). Also, i did'nt 2. Don't be a Dick

in with some other mystical entities.

First adventure will be on Lubau,


Mahanji Oasis, obtaining "social
consensus and alliance" with Beri
and Xinghur to access what they see
as an holy place (or, viceversa,
allying with "some shady peoples"
who whant get rid of them to start
drilling petroleum). In the end, they
will explore a desert-buried
necropolis and face a darkomorph in
a long forgotten temple built by first
firstcomer and (i hope) will make a
pact with the Guardians of Lubau

Next adventure will be the


quickstarter one, Dark Flower, but
probably i'll create an introductory
part where the PC will be hired to go
to Dabaran and search information
for the ship Shamza (and/or
professor Dahiljaba) and then will go
to the station.

I thought about using The Dying


Ship but i fear is too "easy to die" for
a starting adventure for a team of 3
(not really fight-centric)

on this NPC. But dunno if make
them contact/be contacted/interact
with emissaries before EL will be
good.

" SPOILERS AHEAD:
To be honest "Dying ship" has a
pretty nasty final "battle" and it is
the typical evil entity-Ship-Exorcism
story. If you play that before "last
Voyage of the Ghazali" then your
players will be reminded of that
early on and draw wrong
conclusions.

For me Emissary Lost has a couple


of problems wich has nothing to
do with the writing of the
campaign itself.
-First the tensions on Coriolis are
only palpable if you let the players
stay a lot on the station or if you
tie in lots of Bulletin reports on
their travels.-Certain Points can
only be reached if you trigger
something- the campaign tries to
force the players towards one
option

You need to tie in the role of


"Noor" very early on in your game,
so that the players will have an
incentive to go after him/her. If
you just do some assumption that
the players will know her they will
suspect that he/she is important
and go after the missing person
case because that is what you do.

My advice: introduce Noor as a


familiy Member, former love
intrest or something like that early
on. If you railroad the campaing
then be concrete with the hints. If
you sandbox it be prepared

Concerning Dying: Every Scene can


be the death of the players. Don´t
be overly hard but don´t let them
feel like everything is going to be
okay. One players char was killed
in a warmup fight and the other
was nearly killed in a linking scene.

I'm planning on a quest to find


Professor Dahiljaba that will
need some investigation and
then will ends up to the Dark
Flowers adventure from
Quickstarter.

As i read, Noor is a student on


Coriolis, so he/she can be a
former student who knows
something about the professor;
he/she can also accompaign

he/she can also accompaign


the PC to Dabaran (they
probably could need his/her
help around the ship as they
will be down to one
crewmember for the first
couple adventures)

Can also be valuable to found


clues about what professor was
doing in Dabaran before
departing to the space station
but sure not able to join them
inside the station (can be left on
ship guarding it, of course). if i
roleplay him/her a little, can
also become a close friend or
lover of one of the PC and that
will be useful when i'll introduce
Emissary Lost

The problem is EL campagin


is'nt (yet) on my native
language; will be soon but at
the moment i'm stuck with
english. And that's normally not
a problem but reading 300
pages adventure in a foreign

language is pretty tiring and


long so i don't know what's the
timeline and if using Noor
directly in some adventure
before the campaign could be
advisable :|

So i guessed another options:


Noor is a friend/ex-
lover/something of one of the
PC and they will reach for
him/her to found clues on
Professor Dahiljaba's endevour.
Something like a telephone call
or a quick meeting in the hall of
the university/library in coriolis,
just to introduce him/her as a

just to introduce him/her as a


valuable asset without risking
to altering EL's timeline.

need some space between
him/her going away from
the players ship and the
EL Campaign.

thinking about
inventing some sad

emotive connection

did'nt add much data

campaign... right?)

Ghazali should be pretty easy to
link into.

The Colonial Agency will be


retrofitting a cruise ship (the
Ghazali) into a relief vessel to
Hamura station, and hiring
various free agents (and vessels)
to provide a support fleet. So,
the players can just be
approached and hired for the
gig.
Then it will very naturally propel
them into the Hamurabi location
(reprinted as an appendix in
Ghazali if you don't already have
a copy).
Ghazali also provides some
hooks into the Emissary Lost
campaign, so that's handy.

Dying Ship: It looks pretty tough.


One solution would be to have
someone hire the PCs for
transport; that gives the PCs to
be traveling some arbitrary
place, and the passengers can
act as emergency
reinforcements (especially if the
passengers are handy in a fight,
like some rich guy's bodyguards
or a cadre of cops or
something).
I'm personally planning to avoid
direct interaction with the
Emissaries before starting
Emissary Lost. I want to include
a lot of references to them, and
mystic NPCs who have met
them, but I want them to be off-
screen until the big adventure
path starts.

introduce Emissary NPCs early,


check out the appendixes in
Emissary Lost. There's one with a
few pages of adventure hooks
involving the Emissaries.

yet: is in the kickstarter i did but
dunno when will be released. As
for appendix on EL i already give
a quick look at it, but i thought it
was intended to be used AFTER
the event of the campaign...
