Closed
As of May 21, 2019, 3:37pm
Request Visibility: Department
Details
Pursuant to the California Public Records Act (CPRA), I request to inspect/obtain the
following:
Any and all records of communication between the Santa Maria Police Department and
Mendota Police Department including, but not limited to, electronic mail (e-mail)
communication, text messages, and phone call records, between January 1, 2014 and
up to date of satisfying this request, which I believe to be held by the Santa Maria Police
Department.
If you determine that some but not all of the information is exempt from disclosure and
that you intend to withhold it, I ask that you redact it for the time being and make the
rest available as requested and that you provide specific exemptions under the CPRA.
If you determine that any or all or the information qualifies for an exemption from
disclosure, I ask you to note whether, as is normally the case under the Act, the
exemption is discretionary, and if so whether it is necessary in this case to exercise
your discretion to withhold the information.
This information will be used for journalistic purposes, and will therefore be made public,
and will not be used for commercial purposes.
I ask for a determination on this request within 10 days of your receipt of it, and an
even prompter reply if you can make that determination without having to review the
record[s] in question.
If I can provide any clarification that will help expedite your attention to my request,
please contact me at minskyda@gmail.com. I ask that you notify me of any duplication
costs exceeding $50 before you duplicate the records so that I may decide which
records I want copied.
Sincerely,
David Minsky

The records requested pertain to a criminal court case and a protective order (gag
order) has been issued. For this reason, the request is being denied and no records
will be disclosed; however, the gag order and modified gag order was released to the
requester.
Dear requestor,
The City has conducted a search of its records. All documents responsive to your
request in the City’s possession are subject to a protective gag order issued by the
Superior Court for the County of Santa Barbara and cannot be released at this time.
