CHAPTER 2
The learners shall be able to� analyze the various environmental forces affecting
the firm and summarize these using Political Economic Social and Technological
Analysis PEST) and Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) Analysis
frameworks.
-the role of business in the environment, and how the environment affects the firm
identify various forces/elements of the firm�s environment
summarize these forces using the PEST and SWOT analyses
describe the local and international business environment of a firm
explain the role of business in relation to the economy
discuss the different phases of economic development
differentiate the various forms of business organizations

The learners shall be able to� formulate effective plans for a specific business
endeavor

discuss the nature of planning
compare and contrast the different types of plans

apply appropriate planning techniques and tools
formulate a decision from several alternatives
