Topic: A theater play

Dear Students,

You will participate in an assignment of making a video telling us about a theater play.

Here the steps to complete the assignment:

Step 1:
Read “Artemis Theater presents…” on Unit 10, lesson 2 on English Discoveries again.

Step 2:
After reading the article, think about a theater play you have recently seen (You can read about one
if you haven’t seen a play yet.).

Step 3:
After you have decided which theater play you will talk about, prepare the script for your video.
Talk about:
 the name of the play and where it is on
 when you saw it
 kind of play it is
 what the play is about
 why you liked the play
 what is available during intermissions
 time the play begins
 price of ticket
 why people will like the play

Step 4:
Record yourself on a video telling us about a theater play.
 English 3

Here are some things to keep in mind while recording your video:

 Speak as clearly as possible.

 Smile.
 Be in a well-lit area.
 Be confident.
 Look at the camera when you speak.
 Don’t just read.

Some guidelines to make your video:

 Use vocabulary and grammar structures studied in Unit 10:

 past progressive
 vocabulary to talk about theater plays
 Your video should last about 1 minute or 1 minute and a half (1’-1’30).
 Use youtube.com to make the video. Test your video works well before sending the link.
Change video privacy setting to “Public” so your teacher can view it.
 You can also use any other software to make your video.
 You have to paste the link of your video and the script (the script is referential) in the
Assignment section (Actividad in Unit 10) on Blackboard.
 Use the template below (See page 3).

Assessment criteria:

 pronunciation and intonation

 fluency
 accuracy
 task achievement (clarity and use of webcam)
