AUCKLAND PHILHARMONIA ORCHESTRA AUDITION LIST

Section Principal Trumpet for 1st Aug 2011

Recorded Auditions will only be accepted with the following conditions;
• Content to be exactly as per requirements and set list of orchestral excerpts. Please note that failure adhere to the requirements may result in
disqualification. Please consult with the Orchestra Manager if you have any concerns.
• Studio quality Recording
• Recording Engineer to confirm in writing that the recording is unedited and referee to affirm that the recording is a true and honest
representation of the candidate’s playing. (a form for this purpose is available from the Orchestra Manager)
• The audition should be recorded as no more than two continuous takes, being one take for the concerto material and one take for the excerpts.
• Each item on the recording must be formatted as a separate track (or sound file) for easy access. Please record the audition material as
concerto items followed by excerpts in the order of the set list.
• Please note that the APO plays at A=440hz

UPDATE Recorded audition material may now be sent electronically. Please advise the Orchestra Manager that this is
your intention. Instructions will be emailed to you at the closing of applications. Please DO NOT email audio files.

Round One Requirements

Haydn Trumpet concerto: 1st movement exposition and development including cadenza to be played with
piano accompaniment. Candidates are at liberty to use whichever pitched trumpet
they prefer.
