2. Convert the following area in to sq. meter (m2)
a) 25 sq. inch b) 1 sq. mile c) 500 sq. feet d) 2.5 sq. kilometer
3. Convert the following volumes in to cubic meter (m3)
a) 25 cu. In b) 1000 cu. cm c) 50 cu. Ft
4. Convert the following to degree
a) 348 gon b) 300 gon c) 256 gon
5. Convert the following to gon/grade
a) 350 55’ b) 2650 278’ c) 600 45' 44" d) 2560 16’ 25”
6. Convert the following to decimal degree
a) 2000 20’ 20” b) 450 45’ 45” c) 2450 35’ 20”
7. Convert the following to degree ,minutes, seconds (DMS)
a) 255. 6450 b) 95.550 c) 165.7550
8. What is the advantage of graphical scale representation over the other scale
representations (statement and representative fraction)?
9. Represent the following by representative fraction & by graphical scale (draw the
graphical Scale).
a) 1cm to 50cm c) 1m to 5 km
b) 10 cm to 250 km d) 1m to 5 miles
10. Represent the following by statement scale
a) 1: 50,000
b) 1: 25,000
11. The distance between two points A and B on a plan was found to be 10cm when
measured with a scale R.F = 1/2000. The distance between the same points when
measured with a scale R.F (X) is 40cm. Determine the RF scale.
12. Determine the scale of a map, if a line of 150m is represented by 7.5cm.
13. The distance between two points A and B on a plan was found to be 100m when
measured with a scale R.F = 1/1000. What will be the distance between the same
points when measured with a scale R.F = 1/500.

14. Does it necessarily follow that better precision means better accuracy? Why?
(Explain the reason by using/ giving at least one example.)
15. What are the causes for mistakes in a measured quantity?
16. Differentiate between random error, systematic error and mistakes.
17. If a tape is found to measure 29.94 m between the 0m mark and the 30m mark
when compared with a standards, what type of error is introduced? How much
meter?
18. If an observe reads are records a value of, say 13.481m when the better value is
13.482m, what type of error is introduced? How much meter?
19. Suppose that two different taping parties measure the same line four times each
using a different 30m tape. The first party reports the following measurements;
29.800, 29.700, 29.750 and 29.850m. The second party report the following
measurement; 29.420, 29.400, 29.400, and 29.410m. Assume the correct or true
length of the line is 29.720m. From your examination of the spread of the results,
which party’s report is more precise and which party’s report is more accurate.
Why? Explain your reason in detail.
20. Use the following data to solve the questions listed below. Write your conclusion
based on the result obtained.
