This is an excerpt from a risk management plan that I have been briefed and given by

my mentor teacher. The event was for a Gala day where students are walking from the
school to the oval and competing in several sports activities.

Upon discussing with my mentor teacher, the regulations and rules when dealing with
students outside of school grounds I have found out about things such as supervising
and giving permission to go to the bathroom and the hazardous places including the
canteen area which has hot barbeque and cords which can trip students.

I have been lucky to be able to participate and help supervise the netball games where
we assisted students who fell and were feeling sick.

Along with helping maintain students’ safety the school rule is always also
a good reminder for students who are not doing the right thing and being
unsafe, rewarding students who are doing the right thing with the school
reward system and a constant reminder of the school rules and policy the
students are more responsive to teacher instructions.
