1. Hardware components of a conventional PC and their respective function/s

Computer Case
Primary function of the computer system unit is
to hold all the other components together and
protect the sensitive electronic parts from the
outside elements.

The front side contains the elements a user needs

frequently, such as the power button, an optical
disk drive, an audio outlet for a pair of
headphones, and a number of USB connections.
The back side contains all other connections - for
power, monitor, keyboard, mouse, Internet
connection, and any other peripheral devices.
There are typically more connections than the
minimum necessary to allow for expansion.
Scanner

Captures images from photographic prints,

posters, magazine pages, and similar sources for
computer editing and display.

Monitor

The main function of a computer monitor is to

display video and graphical information generated
by the computer’s graphics adapter, allowing the
user to interact with the computer.

Displays information processed by the computer's

video card.

Printer

The function of a printer is to turn digital data into

printed media. This could be text, or it could be
graphic output.

Automatic Voltage Regulator

Random-Access Memory
A form of computer data storage that
stores data and machine code currently being
used. It allows data items to be read or written in
almost the same amount of time irrespective of
the physical location of data inside the memory
Hard Disk Drive / Solid State Drive

An SSD is a type of mass storage device similar to

a hard disk drive (HDD). It supports reading and
writing data and maintains stored data in a
permanent state even without power.

It split video information into three separate

signals, two for color and one for brightness.

CPU Fan

It is used for active cooling, and may refer to fans

that draw cooler air into the case from the
outside, expel warm air from inside, or move air
across a heat sink to cool a particular component.

Mother Board
It is the most essential parts of a computer
system. It holds together many of the crucial
components of a computer, including the central
processing unit (CPU), memory and connectors
for input and output devices.

During use, the motherboard establishes vital

electronic connections between various hardware
units to ensure that tasks undertaken by the user
are completed successfully and efficiently.
Data Cable

from source to destination.
It facilitate communication between the
different hardware components.
Used to transfer information between
numerous computers in a network.
CPU sockets
It facilitates CPU access and prevents damage
when a unit is inserted or removed. A CPU
socket also has a lock to prevent CPU
movement, and its design helps secure heat
sink placement above the CPU.
Power Supply Unit

The power supply unit (PSU) is used to convert AC

currents from the main supply to the different DC
voltages required by various computer
components.

Video Card
Its design is optimized to work with
images. It creates output images can
be integrated into the motherboard or
central processing unit. For serious
gamers, a high-quality video card may
just be the most important part of the
computer system - it's a must for
rendering 3D graphics in particular.
CD-ROM Drive

This is a high capacity optical data storage

device with a removable disk. It writes data onto
or reads data from a storage medium.

D. GENERALIZATION

In this activity, I learned that in a certain computer system, there are essential parts that come

together or work together so that a command that was input/ placed by the user will be att-

ained. These parts come with their own functions, working together, giving the expected

result.
