MID 216 PSID 44 Alarm and Central Lock Feedback

For further information see “MID 216 PSID 44 Alarm and

Central Lock Feedback, Check” page 3.

General information
The Light Control Module receives a signal from the
Central Lock Module upon remote locking and unlocking
and activates front, rear and side repeater turn signal
lamps (no trailer turn lights).

Fault code
FMI 12
Bad component
Conditions for fault code:
w8003512.tif
• If LCM receives the feedback signal from the Central
Lock Module for longer than 60 sec.
Possible cause:
• Short-circuit to ground in the wiring harness between
the LCM and the Central Lock Module.
Noticeable external symptoms:
• All truck turn signal lamps are activated continuously.
Appropriate check:
• Check Central Locking Control Unit for a sent signal
to the LCM, for light activation during locking and
unlocking. Replace the Central Locking Control Unit
if it is defective.
• Check circuit 714–LC for a short to ground. Perform
a continuity check of the wire to ground. Repair the
short in wire, if found.
W3006356
• If the wiring harness is OK and the Central Locking
Control Unit is OK, consider the fault to be in the LCM.
Replace the LCM, if found to be defective.

MID 216 PSID 44 Alarm and Central Lock Feedback, Check

Signal Check

Prerequisites:

• Breakout box 9998699 connected to adapter 9990025

between the control unit and connector LC2 (White
18 pin).

• Ignition key in the ON position.

• Measuring voltage.

• Ubat = battery voltage.

Measuring Points Expected Value Comments

LC2–6 to Ground Ubat ≈ Signal Inactive OK
0V ≈ Signal Active* Central Locking Control Unit should
only send a brief signal during the lock
and unlock function with remote
* If the signal is constantly active, temporarily unplug the connector from the Central Locking Control Unit and check if
the fault in the LCM goes inactive. If the fault goes inactive and does not return, replace the Central Locking Control Unit.

Short Circuit Check

Prerequisites:

• Breakout box 9998699 connected to adapter 9990025

and to the connector LC2 (White 18 pin). (Central lock
control module disconnected.)

• Breakout box 9998699 connected to adapter 9990020

and the Central lock control unit connector. (LCM
connector LC2 disconnected).

• Ignition key in the OFF position.

• Measuring resistance - Ohms.

Measuring Points Expected Value Comments

LC2–6 to Ground ∞ ≈ Circuit not shorted Circuit OK
0 ≈ Circuit shorted Find the short in Circuit 714–LC and
repair
Pin 14 (Central Locking Control Unit) ∞ ≈ Circuit not shorted Circuit OK
to ground 0 ≈ Circuit shorted Find the short in Circuit 714–LC and
repair
