Theme 1: Provision of sports facilities


Sports facilities need to be fit-for-purpose, provide for multiple groups and a broad range of community activities.

The assessment of each of the facilities against the criteria must enable
production of a clear and evidence driven list of pavilions and of sporting
reserves in the priority order that they need to be addressed. It must also
provide clear indication of the costs associated with the renewal/upgrade
and redevelopment program that can then be integrated into Council’s
long-term financial planning processes.

1.1.2 Undertake a review of auxiliary items (e.g. scoreboards, Sport & Recreation Year 2 Medium
coaches’ boxes etc.) with a view to prepare standards for installation and
documentation on the responsibility for maintenance/replacement.

1.3.5 Continue to work with Sport and Recreation Victoria, Linking Sport & Recreation Year 1 High
Melbourne and Baseball Victoria as part of the University of Melbourne
Baseball Club (temporary) relocation and Boeing Reserve Master Plan.
