Description
Although the qualification is primarily intended to support your progression to higher
education, the introductory skills, knowledge and understanding that you will gain
would be of use in various job roles in a legal setting, such as legal secretary or
administrator, including those offered through school/college-leaver traineeships or
fast-track programmes.

Equivalences

This qualification at RQF Level 3 represent practical knowledge, skills, capabilities

and competences that are assessed in academic terms as being equivalent to GCE
AS/A Levels.

Qualification structure

Level 3 Diploma in Law consists of 4 mandatory units for a combined total of 60

credits.

 The English legal system

This unit provides an overview of the English Legal System to prepare
learners for more substantive study in areas of English Law.

 Contract law
This unit will introduce learners to the principles and key elements of contract
law.

 Academic and research skills for law

This unit develops academic research skills and the language skills needed to
be able to formally present academic research in a legal context.

 Legal terminology and communication

This unit develops learners’ skills and how to present information in a legal
context.

Assessment and verification

All units within this qualification are internally assessed and externally verified by the
awarding body. The qualifications are criterion referenced, based on the
achievement of all the specified learning outcomes.

To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that
they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all
assessment criteria.

Who is this course for?

This qualification will suit you if you are planning to take a law degree but do not yet
have sufficient, relevant attainment at Level 3 to meet the entry requirements for a
