When a customer has a business presence in certain countries, their business activities may
represent heightened risk to BMO Bank of Montreal. Business Operations means having a
physical presence in a country as evidenced by having a production or service facility, an office, a
storefront, a sales force, etc.
Why does BMO Bank of Montreal require this additional information and documentation?
As a Federally Regulated Financial Institution, we are obligated to have a greater understanding
of the risks associated with our customer’s activities when carried out in certain countries. Based
on the information that you have already provided to us, or other information available to us, your
company has been identified as having business operations in a country which BMO Bank of
Montreal has deemed to be of higher risk. By obtaining your answers to specific questions we will
be able to better understand your business operations.
Instructions: Please answer the questions outlined in the Information Requirements sheets
and return them. In order to be able to continue operating your account, this package must be
returned completed within 15 business days.
Note: If you cannot provide any of the requested information please indicate the reasons
for this. If you anticipate any delays, please advise us as soon as possible.
