The ear washing system is functioning to inject the water at 37°Celsius, body
temperature, into the ear canal and soften, take out ear wax, sometimes, it could be used
for nystagmus stimulation.
In the meantime, its collective water into the funnel type collector reversely flows to the
container at 4 liter, at the allowable max. high level, making the sensor recognize and
transmit its sensing to main PCB, which makes motor start and open the container, thus
automatically drained out to connection of the waste water pipeline.

7. Troubleshooting
7-1. Troubleshooting on which Parts didn’t work for injecting warm water from the hand-
piece

Ear washing system (hereinafter called EWS) appeared “A1” and changed to “36~39”, sometimes,
“E9:” on the indicator.

However, warm water is not injected into the hand-piece, while warm water drains out.
You’ve connected the hand-piece to the warm water drain adaptor as a temporary expedient.
Therefore, our tentative conclusion is that the cause not to inject warm water into the hand-piece falls
into five cases.

First, possibility to show the voltage below DC 12V, at the ground point, which is able to operate the
relay for opening three way cock solenoid valve.
In this case, the transformer, supposedly functioning to rectify the voltage from AC 220V to 12V, should
be replaced, while you’re kindly requested to notify us of the rated / used voltage in Qatar.

Secondly, possibility not to operate the relay properly for opening three way cock solenoid valve.
In this case, the relay should be replaced by the new one.

Thirdly, possibility not to turn on LED of the “ 3 WAY ON” on the main PCB.
In this case, the main PCB should be replaced by the new one.

Fourthly, possibility not to operate the three way cock solenoid valve, itself.
In this case, three way cock solenoid valve should be replaced by the new one.

Fifthly, possibility to combine any case above with another.

In this case, you’re to precisely examine which parts it didn’t work properly.

So, we’d like you to undertake the following troubleshooting procedure on which parts it didn’t work,
exactly.

1.Mandatorily Prior Preparation for Examination

1-1. Place the current hand-piece, which you connected to the warm water drain adaptor, into the original
position.
1-2. Check whether the temperature to show from 36℃ to 39℃, returns to the normal one at 37℃ on
the indicator, otherwise, you should increase to open water flow rate control knob as much as showing
Max.37℃, inside EWS, as I sent you its location before. The reason why it shows the temperature up to
39℃ is the shortage of water volume / flow rate.

Ear Washing & Automatic Drainage System_2016.07.Rev.3 14

2. Examination Process on which parts didn’t work properly

2-1. Case I : Shortage of Voltage for the Operation of Relay

Check whether it shows the voltage at DC 12V, or above, at the ground point (U8, 7812) or not by voltage
meter, as shown in the attached diagram.
Should it designate 12 voltage, or above, it’s no problem, otherwise, showing it below 12V, it’s the
problem of the transformer, which should be replaced by the appropriate one.
Should the stable 220V input into the transformer, it’ll result in showing the 12V at the U8(7812).
In this regard, please be sure to notify us of the used / rated voltage in your country.

2-2. Case II : Defective Relay

There are two ways to examine that the relay works or not, one is by eyes, the other by voltage meter.
When the indicator changes to show 37℃, you can also take a look at whether the relay works or not by
your eyes.
Also, check whether it shows the voltage w/ 220V at the “CON55”” connector by voltage meter.

Should it show the voltage at 220V, the relay works, properly, otherwise, the relay is defective, which
should be replaced by the new one.

2-3. Case III : Not Turning On the LED of “3WAY ON” on the Main PCB
When the indicator shows “ 37”, the LED of “3WAY ON” on the main PCB should turn on.
Otherwise, the main PCB is not working, properly, which should be replaced by the new one.

2-4. Case IV : Three Way Cock Solenoid Valve Breakage

When showing the “37” on the indicator and the voltage of the relay at the “CON55” shows 220V, and after
checking the housing of three way cock solenoid valve, precisely, with no problem detected, three way
cock solenoid valve might break down.
In this case, it should be replaced by the new one.

2-5. Case V : Combined

When the voltage at the “CON55” doesn’t show 220V, the relay doesn’t work properly.
In this case, you should examine whether the three way cock solenoid valve works properly, or not.
The way to examine it is that after connecting the “GND PATTERN” with “3 WAY VALVE CONTROL PIN”
by the electrical cable, or wire, so-called ‘make a shortage’, the three way cock solenoid valve is supposed
to forcefully open.
Should the three way cock solenoid valve open, it’s working, otherwise, it’s out of order.

7-2. Troubleshooting for the Overflow of the Automatic Drainage System

I. Easy, Quick Test Method
Dismantling  the  waste  water  container  with  sensors,  highest  /  lowest  seen,  undertake  the
following procedure :
‐ Filled with water at the highest level sensor, check whether or not level sensor is activated to
make the drain pump start up its operation.
If so, the drain pump is working, the level sensor is working, so check whether the drainage
pipe and the container outlet were plugged or not.
If not, the drain pump is broken, or the level sensor is out of order.
II. Standard Test Method
1. In case the Drain Pump is out of order
At the waiting mode, showing “ ‐ ‐ “ on the LED display of the ear washing system(EWS),
pressing the button of “start / pause” for 3 seconds, it immediately checks the water level on
the container of the automatic drainage system(ADS) :

Ear Washing & Automatic Drainage System_2016.07.Rev.3 15

Without placing the lowest level on it, the drain pump is supposed to start up operation, while
it’s placed at the lowest level, the drain pump is supposed to stop.
In case the drain pump is operating, check whether the drain pipe / container outlet might be
plugged, or not.
* Checking the waste water level by sensor, the drain pump is supposed to start‐up operation at
the highest level, while it’s supposed to stop at the lowest level.
In case the drain pump doesn’t work, you need to check the followings :
‐  Check  whether  “drain  on  LED”  is  turning  on  at  the  “CHECK  POINT”  of  the  MCU  board,
referring to the attached excel sheet.
Turning on, MCU board is no problem, vice versa, MCU board is not working.
‐  Check  whether  the  “drain  relay,  RY25”  is  measured  /  well  connected,  by  more  than  12
voltage,  as  indicated  in  the  “GND  +12V”  of  excel  sheet,  otherwise,  below  11v,  its
transformer  should  be  changed  from  12  volt  to  15  volt  under  AC  220voltage,  this  is  the
defect of the MCU board.
‐ Check whether it measures 220 voltage by tester at the “drain pump connector, CON54” :
When  measuring  220volt,  and  if  the  drain  pump  doesn’t  work,  the  drain  pump  must  be
broken.
  2. In case Level Sensor is out of order
Taking a look at the three colored electrical cables (white, black, green, CON52) on the right
bottom of the MCU board, its voltage is functioned to work how to drain ;
Under 5volt at the white electrical cable, using the tester, connect an electrode to the black /
green colored electricity, while the other electrode is connected to “GND” on the MCU board
of excel sheet and compare its(black, green) voltage to the following table.
In this case, you’re to adjust water level at the highest / lowest by your judgement.
When automatic drain is made :
Black Cable  Green Cable  Drainage  Water Level
5Volt  0Volt  Off  Lowest
0Volt  0Volt  Off  Middle
0Volt  5Volt  On  Highest

When  forceful  drain  is  made,  for  instance,  pressing  the  button  of  “start/pause”  for  3‐5
seconds :
Black Cable  Green Cable  Drainage  Water Level
5Volt  0Volt  Off  Lowest
0Volt  0Volt  On  Middle
0Volt  5Volt  On  Highest

      *  Regardless  of  the  drain  mode(automatic,  forceful),  the  drain  pump  is  always  supposed  to
stop at the lowest level.
Without varying from the voltage along with the water level, level sensor must be broken.
Be sure to check whether the “LED On” of the “drain on” on the MCU board is activated or
not.
If so, MCU board is working, otherwise, it’s broken, as mentioned above.

7-3. Troubleshooting on No Water Flow at the Ear Washing System

2. Turning around the nut clockwise as shown in the red-circle of the <Fig. 1>, and it will change to
the one, as shown in the red-circle of the <Fig. 2> and the ear irrigation pressure decreases,
proportionally.
Be sure to have a caution that turning round it counter-clockwise entirely as part to increase its
pressure, the nut can be loose apart.

3. Should the micro-control of its pressure can’t meet you, as a macro-control of it,
please refer to the followings:

< Fig. 3>

4. Taking out the case of the ear irrigation system, you can see the water-inlet pressure control
valve, Inside as shown in the red-circle of the <Fig.3> by which too much water inlet pressure
can Decrease not to be able to impact this system.
5. Turning around the pressure control valve in a directional way of +/ -, it increases / decreases,
in taking a look at the pressure gauge.

6. After controlling the water pressure by its valve as shown in the red-circle in a macro-way,
Turning around the knob counter-clockwise, as shown in the green-circle of the <Fig. 3>,
its pressure can be increased in a micro-way.

7-5. Trouble-Shooting on the Sensor in the Hand-Piece of Ear Irrigation

1. Check whether the line of sensor is cut off or not, allegedly caused by the
damage or the poor soldering, as shown in the pink circle.
2. Unless it's no trouble, replace the sensor by the new one, we’ll send you.
3. When replacing the sensor, be sure to install it in a vertical direction, while it's better to fix it by
the bond of 401, included, with the new sensor, instead of the both sided tape, which might be
also acceptable.
4. Temporarily fixing the sensor at first, check whether the sensor works without any trouble, after
the hand-piece places onto its guided hole, as shown above.
If it works very well, be sure to fix it permanently.
5. A scanty amount of bond applies to the flat part of the sensor.
