Eco Camp ‘19

Located in Oak Grove Park at the gazebo on the boardwalk!
The goals and philosophy of the West Haven Center for Coastal Ecology and Eco-Camp
remain unchanged. Science, our beginnings. We have remained dedicated to the
environment, the parents and the children of the West Haven Community.

Of course we stress the natural sciences, but more centrally, our staff believes in the
Ecology of Self. As our children are introduced to the wonders of the coastal ecosystems and
Native American lore, they become familiar with the connectedness of nature as they
develop a sense of community amongst each other and with the natural world.

Please come spend some time with us this summer!

Activities include: The geology, history, plant, and animal life of Long Island Sound,
seining, fishing, crabbing, salt marsh excursions, beach art, crafts, Native American lore
and other science and language art activities. Having fun is an added plus.
 Camp sessions are one week long – 8am to 1pm – weeks of June 27th, July 11th, July
18th, and August 1st.
o Cost: $105 per week, make checks payable to West Haven Board of
Education. Once space has been reserved for you there will be no refunds.
 Enrollment is limited to and taken on a “First come, first served” basis. We expect
and demand appropriate behavior. If a camper is asked to leave, it is for cause and
no refunds are given.
 Campers are expected to have proper clothing – walking shoes/water shoes, water,
sunscreen, plastic rain poncho (for rainy days) and a snack.
 Minimum age requirement is for student to be entering third grade.
