DETAILED LESSON PLAN (DLP)

DLP NO: 1 Date: June 10, 2019 Learning Area: Science Grade Level: 8 Quarter: 1 Duration: 60 mins.
Learning  Investigate the relationship between the amount of force applied Code/s:
Competency/ies: and the mass of the object to the amount of change in the object’s S8FE-Ia-15
motion.
Key Understanding/s:  The learners demonstrate an understanding of force and motion.
Learning Objectives At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:
K  Define force and motion.
S  Cite situations to show the effect of force on matter.
 Explain how factors such as gravity, friction, and change in mass affect the motion of objects.
A  Integrate force and motion in real-life situations.
V  Demonstrate concern for others.
Content/Topic Introduction to Forces & Motion
Learning Resources Reference: Science Learner’s Module
Materials: Paper & ball pen
Procedures
1. Introductory  Checking of attendance
Activity  Motivation: Introduce the topic by letting the students “move” their body along with the music. Ask the
(5 minutes) students if there’s “motion” happened while they were dancing and what causes it.
2. Activity Start the module by eliciting students’ prior knowledge of force and motion. Using a graphic organizer, gather
student’s ideas on the word motion & force.
(15 minutes)

Motion Force

3. Analysis Questions such as the following may be asked:

(5 minutes)  What makes objects move the way they do?
 Why do objects move in different ways? Why are some objects faster than the others?
 What makes objects stay in place?
4. Abstraction Force may be simply defined as a push or a pull exerted by one object on another. It is used to change the
(20 minutes) position of an object at rest. It also change the direction
5. Application Cite personal situation showing the effect of force.
(5 minutes)
6. Assessment Formative Assessment:
(5 minutes) 1. A force is a _______ or a______ of an object. push; pull
2. When forces are balanced, the net force is ____. zero
3. The combination of all the forces acting on an object is the _________.net force
4. A force that is exerted only when two objects are touching is called a _________. contact force
5. A force is measure in _______. newton
7. Assignment Bring the following materials tomorrow (per group): Pen, string, Pair of scissors, ball
(5 minutes)
