Apparel and Merchandising/ Lifestyle Accessory Design/Textile Design

There are two lizards on the ceiling of a room. As soon as you enter the room, one of the lizards
falls down. Form a comic story. Include the reason for the lizard to fall

4. Draw 3 other uses of the material.

Question 2
What are the threats to environment because of denim jeans manufacturing. Write 2 points.

Question 3
Four pictures are provided:
Tajmahal, Chilli, Boots, Tiger
1. Write a meaningful story using words in any sequence.
2. Write a story without changing the sequence of the pictures.

Question 4
1. 3 images of models with fashion clothes were given
2. Who designed these clothes? From which fashion house.
3. Theme of the collection.
4. Show the construction of any one of the garment through drawing.

PAPER II

Question 1:
2 Photographs were given:
a) Mesh of yarns with cotton n gauze cloth passed over it and kantha work done over it.
b) Printed cotton cloth.

Identify the given photographs and describe 5 qualities of it like appearance, material etc.

Question 2:
Basket photograph, identify the material it is made up of, its conventional uses and
unconventional uses (space provided for illustration).

(It was of leather stripes, bamboo strips, flax etc., in orange and magenta color with
colored yarns tied at the mouth)

Question 3:
Using recycling technique make a product out of paper/ cloth, also mention the material used
with it if any and steps of construction. (Space provided for illustration)

Question 4:
What do you understand by climatic change? How it is affecting our surrounding give example?

Question 1:
Make a seating arrangement at a railway station for the passengers. Mention the age group

Make an ecofriendly product for storing the vegetables.

Question 2:
Make an accessory for a bus conductor, which will help him in doing his job efficiently and
faster

Make an accessory for a bus driver that will be useful for him through the journey

Question 1: Visualize the scenario of life of Rat or ant.
(Assume that you are a mouse/ ant. Draw his daily life activities. Also draw his surroundings
from its eye view.)
Or
Visualize the scenario of existing railway station with 4 platforms, coach yard, stock yard, public
amenities such as seats, toilets, and telephone booth etc.

a) List all the functions and public amenities.
b) Draw a plan showing all above functions and amenities.
c) Also design a modern railway station with four platforms, three foot over bridges and
public amenities with a top view. Also draw any one of the platforms in 3 D from a
human eye.

Question 2: Explain the concept of 4+3 and 4-‐3 to a 4 year old child through narration and
illustration.
Or
Write a story strip with illustrations and narrations between little finger, index finger and toe.
Also give the title to the story of your choice.

b) Draw currency symbols for India, USA, Great Britain, France, and Germany.

Apparel Design 2012

Question 1: Draw the any one Care Label you found in any garment and write about it. Also
discuss about the brand you found in.

Question 2: If your button gets stuck and on pulling it got teared from there. Then what will you
do if you have a meeting in 10days. (Few options were provided such as whether you will get a
thread and stitch it etc)

Question 3: Photo of Mughal Period.

• Walls with floral
• Princess with maids
• Royal look and historical picture
Recognize the photo and garments and also describe the types of fabric used.

Question 4: During Indian festivals what is the Relevance of clothes worn by the people (men/
women/ children)

Lifestyle Accessory Design 2012

Question 1: Design an object to sit in a public park/ garden. Explain in brief for whom you are
designing it for. The criteria you are keeping in mind, material etc

Question 2: Design an accessory for police man/ woman to help him in his/her long working
hours. Explain in detail the utility of accessory designed. Illustrate the uses.

PAPER II
NID Textile Design 2012

Question 1: Photographs Of Two Fabrics Are Provided:
Woven Fabric
Printed Fabric
Write performance, properties and appearance of the fabric. You are also free to write any
more information which you may know.
(15 Marks)

Question 2: Design a toy for children and color it and also give concept of your design.
You are free to use all provided materials or some of them and also you can add your own
materials

The materials are as under:
Cotton, plastic, bamboo stick, paper and rubber band
Explain your concept not more than 50 words.
(15 Marks)

Question 3: As a designer what would you like to change in future? Write it in not more than
200 words
(10 Marks)

Question 4: Illustrate any Indian classical dance with appropriate costume as well as props and
also depict textile of their Indian dance.

Question 1: Attempt any 1 out of three options given below. Also give write up of 100 words
explaining the concept.

a) Design a costume for garbage collector.
b) Design a chair for pregnant woman who is a working woman; also show her on the chair with
drawing.
c) Design a Bus stop for older citizen.

Question 2: Who has designed the rupee symbol, Name the designer also draw the logo.

Question 3: Draw & write 5 different ways for mineral water packaging (example:
normal bisleri bottle & a water pouch)

Question 4: Draw 5 different ways how you can open A4 size book of 200 pages.

Lifestyle Accessory Design

Question 1: Draw a traditional craft of your region. Describe it with material, process,
construction, finish and use (in 200 words)

Question 3: Redesign three things from your kitchen or dining area to communicate more
among family members.

Textile Design

Question 1: Two swatches provided
A: Block printed (100% cotton)
B: Printed bandhani (originally it is with tie & die, to confuse they have given printed
fabric, it was not 100% cotton as well)

I. Write 100 words for each & define similarities & differences in both fabrics.

II. Define 3 different uses of Fabric A & B, with drawing & give write up as well.

III. Define use of Fabric A & B for kind of person & environment as per you they can be
used.

(Write up as well as drawing)

Question 5: Object Q is on the bank of river and R is inside the same river on the planet earth
at 03:00 pm. Visualize and draw the situation, write conversation between Q and R in not
more than 20 words.

PAPER –II

Question 1: Design a garment best out of waste with material which is available at home and
the garment should be wearable (color it and explain the garment).
(Space provided for question A3 sheet for drawing and A4 sheet for write up.)

Question 2: Design any state’s traditional garment, jewelry and textile. Only line drawing.
Describe and draw in detail any one out of garment, jewelry and textile.

PAPER-‐ I

Question 1: Identify the most unique feature of the given object and draw it from three angles.
Don’t draw the entire object. (Object provided was-‐ 3 pin plug)
8 marks.

Question 2: Assume the object to be the size of an elephant and is placed in a garden. Draw the
scene.

Question 3: Assume the object has emotions -‐ sad, happy and angry. Draw one and write a
caption for it.

Question 4: Visualize how the object will evolve after 192 years and draw the same.



PAPER –II

Question 1: Draw a picture (Of You) wearing any traditional outfit in full detail. Write in 100
words describing your drawing.

Question 2: Design a futuristic garment for yourself for the year 2025.

Question 1: Draw the side of your state corporation bus as you see it today. Redesign the same
for the future.


Question 2: Suggest the colors and design patterns of a school bus that will be used sometime
in the near future.

Question 3: Pick out any one of the cricket teams (except India); draw their uniform and
redesign Indian team uniform

(A). A retail store is coming up with a techno-‐ethnic theme, help them design it.
