NARRATIVE REPORT ON THE CONDUCT OF DISTRICT SUMMER IN-SERVICE TRAINNING

I. Introduction:

Pursuant to the Division Memorandum no. 158 s,2019 dated March 25,2019, Talisayan
District both Elementary and Secondary School Heads and Select Teachers will conduct District
Level In-Service Training to all teachers on April 22-25,2019.
Thus, Talisayan District headed by Mrs. Nieva Bitonga conducted the said training held
at Talisayan Central School,Talisayan Misamis Oriental.
The said training is an exact intervention in order to progress the quality of education in
public schools. The emphasis of the activity is mainly to impart various learning competencies
through differentiated instruction and the utilization of appropriate instructional materials in all
subject areas. It is expected that through this training, the teachers can draft their DLL and can
come up with various learning materials and assessment strategies to improve the quality of
teaching learning process.

II. Objectives:

At the end of the 3- Day In-Service Training, the participants are expected
to advance their level of awareness on the importance of quality teaching in
relation to pupils’ achievement. Specifically, they shall be able to:

a. Master the content knowledge and its interconnectedness within and across
the curriculum areas coupled with a sound and critical understanding of the
application of theories and principles of teaching and learning.
b. Apply developmentally appropriate and meaningful pedagogy grounded on
content knowledge and current research.
c. Acquire different strategies that promotes lifelong learning in all concepts.
d. Design suitable instructional materials and assessment strategies
appropriate in each learning competency to be developed.

III. Participants:

There were 150 participants of this training coming from different schools of Talisayan
District,Talisayan Misamis Oriental.

IV. Training Observations:

The Training matrix provides direction in the duration of the conduct of the training. One
hundred percent (100%) of the participants attended the opening program and closing program,
an promising training. The pole of trainers in the district facilitated the training.
Day 1 of the training, an opening program was held at the Mini Gym of Talisayan Central
School attended by the District Supervisors, School Heads, pool of trainers, staff and
participants. After the short opening program, the pool of trainers and participants proceeded to
their respective classrooms for in depth discussions of different learning areas.

Day 2 trainers started to introduce different instructional materials for K-12 curriculum.
This activity has made teachers more focused. They revised some of their instructional materials
to attuned the new approaches and strategies presented to them. The said day was intended
for workshop and to be presented in the afternoon.

Day 3 of the training was allotted for the demonstration teaching in all learning areas. And
at 1:00 to 2:00 o’clock in the afternoon the feed backing was done. It was the moment of
discovering strength and weaknesses in the delivery of the lesson. And eventually it was properly
processed by the trainers and lead to productive results. A closing program followed later in the
afternoon. In general, the 3-day training paved new approaches on how to make their individual
classroom motivating, inviting and conducive to learning to all pupils and that teaching is fun!
