1 ) V i c t or i a n Key features: ‘Dollhouse’ effect with elaborate trim, sash windows, bay windows, imposing 2-3 stories, asymmetrical shape, a steep Mansard roof, wrap-around porches, bright colors.
What to say: It must be tough
work cleaning all those panels on those Sash Windows. 2) Islamic Key features: The horseshoe arch, geometric designs, more focus on the enclosed spaces and interior rather than exterior, perforated screens.
What to say: I love the geometric design on this Moorish wall.
3 ) M o d e r n I s l a m i c A r c h i t e c t ur e 4) Romanesque Key features: Rounded arches, repetition of rows of round-headed arches, stylized floral and foliage stone decorations and cable moldings around doors in the style of twisted rope. 5 ) Tu d o r Key features: Thatched roof, Casement windows (diamond-shaped glass panels with lead castings), masonry chimneys, elaborate doorways.
What to say: That’s a substantial ‘overhang’ on that there Tudor house.
6 ) B a uh a u s Key feature: Cubic shapes, primary colors of red, blue and yellow, open floor plans, flat roofs, steel frames, glass curtain walls.
What to say: Rejecting decorative details the designs favored function.
7.Cubic Modular Home Combining Classic Bauhaus Architecture With Modern Design Features 8) Modernist Architecture
Key features: Lack of the
decorative, low buildings, use of modern materials, interaction with interior and exterior spaces, use of sun and shading for human comfort, use of glass and natural light.
What to say: Forms were
intended to be free of unnecessary detail and focus on simplicity and there is an honoring of the materials used rather than concealing them. 8 ) M o d e r n i s t A r c h i t e c t ur e 9 ) C on t e m p o r a r y A r c h i t e c t u r e Key features: Contemporary Style homes are the popular modern-era houses between 1960s to 1970s. Common in this style are the large plate glass windows and either metal or concrete. It then decorates with a natural look of wood or stones and some geometrical shapes like rounds and rectangles incorporating them with other styles in its most creative way.
What to say: Contemporary designs are also
asymmetrical in form. Natural lighting is its favorite spotlight allowing it to come through the large windows and sliding doors. This style is not into too much detail and ornamentation; it prefers clean and smooth textures and lines. 9 ) C on t e m p o r a r y A r c h i t e c t u r e THANK YOU
