BIOCLIMATIC TECHNIQUES

I. DESCRIPTION:

The climatic conditions in the Andean Highlands of Arequipa are a problem that is related to the
quality of life. The Andean Highlands of Arequipa are three thousand meters above sea level,
Arequipa has many cities in the Andean Highlands where there are schools and kindergarten
in view of children are the population at risk from the effects of cold and it is in these places
where we should pay attention.

Currently there are multiple bioclimatic techniques to reduce the effects of cold in habitats of
these areas either from their infrastructure or complementary techniques such as; radiant floors,
greenhouses, thermal insulation of classrooms, water heating, etc. the mentioned techniques
are applied together to have a greater effect but they all heat the air which is done by convection
however these techniques are incomplete a case in point is thermal wall, because the hot air
rises and the cold air lowers by difference in its densities creating a flow of air causing the effect
known as “cold feet” and if would be in vain in vain the applied techniques.

The present system has two objectives to heat the air by means of a convective heater of high
efficiency depending on the dimensions of the classroom to be heated the power of this is chosen
and on the other hand to heat the masses of a room by means of a radiant heater whose
heating principle is the radiation with it directly heats all the solids of a room without the need to
heat the cold air therefore reducing the temperature difference between people in a room and
the air consequently providing thermal comfort.

The present system has as energy source the sun photovoltaic panels will collect a certain power
in battery for example 1kw to heat a room of 60 𝑚3 whose energy can be used at any time
according to the demand for example from 7-12 in the morning in classrooms or kindergarten.

The disadvantages of this system are the low efficiency of the photovoltaic panels that is
commercially between 18 and 20% besides its cost, on the other hand the energy demand of
these resistive elements in order to heat.
The advantages represented are the social impact because this system complemented with
bioclimatic infrastructure techniques would represent a way to take care of children's health in
classrooms in these zones thanks to the double-track heating method.

Currently the photovoltaic technology has increased its efficiency to 30% by using perovskite
and silicon also decreased its cost.

The thermal insulation of surfaces will always be a complementary technique of all the research
techniques.

If we are heart to heart the investigations of this kind and with this heating method should be
developed by all universities in Peru the sooner the better for give a solution a this problem.
II. CONCLUSIONS

1. The Climatic conditions in the Andean highlands of Arequipa have harmful effects,
increasing respiratory diseases, with children being the population at risk.

2. The bioclimatic techniques used do not ensure thermal wellbeing taking into account
that these techniques generate the effect known as “cold feet”.

3. The system described represents a complete method that ensures thermal comfort but
the cost of its installation and components is high despite the positive social impact.

III. SUGGESTIONS.

1. The system should become a way to ensure the health of children in these areas while
the government promotes the development of these technologies

2. The constructions of residents` homes of the residents as well as schools and nurseries
are not prepared to face the effects of the climate therefore the government should
promote a change in the type of infrastructure of these zones.

3. The bioclimatic techniques used should have as an energy source renewable energy
resources for sun and wind
