Position of the IPCLK3000 in the
Network
IPCLK3000 is cost-effective IP clock solution that delivers carrier-class
and high-precision time and frequency synchronization for downstream
devices. As a time server that complies with the IEEE 1588v2-2008
standard, IPCLK3000 provides high-density time input/output ports and
can be connected to a large number of clients.
IPCLK3000 V100R002C01 supports IEEE 1588v2, ITU-T G.8265.1, ITU-T
G.8275.1, and Huawei TOP protocols.
IPCLK3000 V100R002C01 is used in the clock solution of a 2G, 3G, LTE,
or WiMAX network.

IPCLK3000 Typical application
scenarios
Time synchronization networking
Different from a frequency-synchronized network, IPCLK3000 on a time-
synchronized network can apply the Grand Master scheme or the Edge Master(for
future study) scheme.
illustrates the hop-by-hop IEEE 1588v2 deployment scheme, which requires that
intermediate transmission equipment support IEEE 1588v2-compliant boundary
clocks (BCs). On a time-synchronized network applying the hop-by-hop IEEE 1588v2
deployment scheme, the IPCLK3000 implements time synchronization for the next-
hop router or Ethernet switch, and base stations obtain timing signals from the last-
hop transmission device, not from the IPCLK3000 directly.

IPCLK3000 Typical application
scenarios
Frequency synchronization networking ( Recommended )
a network requiring frequency synchronization comprises base stations,
IPCLK3000s, and intermediate transmission equipment. An IPCLK3000 obtains its
reference clock source from the Global Positioning System (GPS) or building
integrated timing supply (BITS) device. A base station obtains IEEE 1588v2
frequency synchronization information from the IPCLK3000 through the
intermediate transmission equipment.

IEEE 1588v2 synchronization Principle
 Unicast and multicast synchronization:
- Unicast Synchronization Mode :The client actively initiates the synchronization request ( Recommended L3

Requirements Requirements

WCDMA 0.05 ppm NA

If NodeB is configured with the GPS, a GPS clock is used as the NodeB clock source.

 It is recommended to use the IPCLK (1588V2) as a NodeB clock source. NodeB can extract a clock from the
IPCLK SERVER. Recommended
With Software configuration IPCLK Server can output multiple types of clock signals.
If transmission devices with 100 m cabling length or the 2G-BTS can provide a 2048 kHz signal, this signal can
be used as an external synchronization clock source of NodeB. Only macro NodeBs and indoor BBUs support
this configuration.

If transmission devices with 300 m cabling length or the 2G-BTS can provide a 2048 kbit/s signal (E1) or 1544
kbit/s signal (T1) signal, this signal can be used as an external synchronization clock source on the Iub interface
of NodeB and be connected to any E1/T1 interface (No.0 E1 generally).

If all the preceding requirements cannot be met or NodeB clock cannot meet synchronization requirements
due to poor transmission qualities, NodeB can be set to operate in free mode, but this mode requires regular
calibration of the NodeB system clocks.

Strategies and Principles for Planning
IP Addresses for X Project
•The service fiber cable, is it single-mode as BOQ
•O&M port using ETH Cable .
•Service ports using fiber .
•The more the used ports, the more the required IP addresses. Reserve
some IP addresses based on the number of IP addresses provided by
customer and future expansion. Each port supports 512 clients. Based on
the number of clients, ports are properly used to save physical resources.
•IP addresses are planned based on network segment resources on the
live network and network segment strategies for IPCLK3000 ports.

•You are advised to use IP addresses as less as possible to simplify

configurations and maintenance of the IPCLK3000. IP address resources
are limited for most customers, and therefore they require saving the IP
addresses. You must communicate with customers before IP address
planning to obtain their requirements.

•The VLAN plan must be considered during IP address planning.

Requirements on Bandwidth
Specifications
IPCLK3000s are used as IP clock servers that send IP clock packets to base station
equipment. The base station equipment parses the clock packets and recovers
clock signals. To recover clock signals, the jitter on the transmission network must
be less than 20 ms and the packet loss rate is less than 1%.

Packet sending frequencies when the IEEE 1588v2 protocol is

used
The default frequency is 16 packets per
second. In the case of default
configuration, the bandwidth occupied
by the IP clock packets of each base
station is 12 kbit/s in normal cases and
the maximum bandwidth is 192 kbit/s.
The bandwidth planned for each port is
512 x 12 kbit/s.
