coaches, Mrs. Bernaliza Garcia and Mrs. Joy Taguim. The awarding
was held at Baggao, Cagayan Mayor’s office last September 22,
2018, 4:00 pm.

The purpose of this is to acquire the digital skills for the 21st
century teaching, learning and working.

Miguel Orteza and Krisha Publico won 2nd place student

category grand finalist for the online PLDT broadband quiz bee last
September 7,even though they didn’t attended for the national
broadband quiz bee that was held at SM Mega Mall, Manila last
September 14 because of typhoon Ompong and some reasons,
unfornately they given the chance to received their awards and
proclaimed 3rd runner up in the said contest.

“The online quiz made me so nervous I can’t even sleep the

night before the contest. But It’s inevitable.Questions will surely start
to pop-up on the computer screen, and we should do good and we
did. We were excited for the grandfinals but there are second
thoughts because of the scheduling.” according to Khianne.

Ms. Katherine P. Diaz de Rivera Head Community Relations

Division PLDT Inc. awarded a cash price and one computer set for
the school. After the awarding she gave relief goods to Baggao,
Cagayan for the victims of typhoon Ompong with the PLDT
employees.
Ms. Katherine Diaz said, “Congratulations I hope you learned
something, don’t forget the lessons you learned and you must apply
it in your daily life”,according to Krisha Publico.

September 8, Khianne was in Tuguegarao City for the Work

immersion and the final Schedule of the contest was told to be on
September 14. The day before the UPCAT. Well, It’s very difficult to
decide but with all the pros and cons weighed, he chose not to go
to the Pldt grandfinals two nights before their supposed trip to
Manila, things became clear to him. He called maam Bernaliza and
told her he will join. That’s final. She happily told him the things he
need to prepare. That even though he wasn’t home, he determined
to pack his things and have a trip to Manila. Until hours after, she told
him that something happened.A Super Typhoon is headed their way
and they can’t risk theirselves. DepEd Division of Cagayan issued a
letter to the head of Pldt Community Relations and said that we
can’t go for a strong typhoon is about to hit Cagayan. It’s
heartbreaking but if it’s meant to be, they can’t do otherwise.

“No regrets we may have not participated in the nationals but

we are home, safe, with our families. Pldt infoteach Quiz bee was a
very fun journey. It thought me many things. To dream, to never give
up and to realise that I have something in me. I wish I’ve made my
school proud. Thank you PLDT, UPOU, Division of Cagayan, CNHS
family and Lord Jesus. I hope CNHS can defend our crown again,
next year. Until we meet again, PLDT INFOTEACH OUTREACH
PROGRAM.” Miguel Orteza said.

“I’m very lonely on that time because we didn’t go to national

but I know God has a good plan for us, but I’m very thankful to him
for his guidance and giving us the knowledge”, Krisha said. “I thank
also to our coaches and to Ms. Katherine for implementing of this
such contest. It’s a great experience to me.”, she added.
“My adviser tapped and told me that I am one of the student-
participants to join the “seminar”. At first, I was hesistant, for the
academic works and schedules are piled up that time. I could’ve
easily said No. And then get back to class but, I don’t know. I seem
to managed that 3-day seminar about Media, Information,
Digital, and Computer Literacy. The seminar was called PLDT
INFOTEACH OUTREACH PROGRAM and I am honestly hyped for this
event because one, it was the 1st time Our school ever had this
event. Second, It was about “computers” and hell yeah I am always
intrigued with computers and third, they told us that we’ll have a
certificate from UPOU. The first day was a booming experience.”,
Khianne said.

“I liked the lessons,the module,the new knowledge, I liked

them. But I wouldn’t think that I will be chosen as one of the
contestants for the Pldt Broadband Quiz bee 2018. I rejected the
offer to be the school’s representative but our ICT coordinator, my
motherly teacher, maam Meng seemed to have made up her mind
that time. She told us to review as early as March last year because
the Division Level Quiz Bee is fast approaching so I cannot do
otherwise but face the module and paste sticky notes on the wall. I
wanted to win this for our school so I reviewed. Kahit wala pang
date ng contest. I started reviewing for the sake of the school. I told
my self, I needed to read the whole 140 page module twice and
then started familiarising. It was hard at first but since the school is
ending, I was focused. Even the water dispenser became my review
board. From the front door of our house upto the comfort room, there
were sticked notes. I really wanted to win that time and represent
CNHS with pride.Tho it’s tiring,I never gave up.I reviewed and
reviewed until the big day.”, he added.
Last April they got 1st place Division PLDT in Fibr broadband quiz
bee and received, plaques and medals held at Amulung National
High school organized by Mr. Andrew Taaca the Head of ICT officer
DepEd Division. “I’m happy because we got 1st place in Divison PLDT
Quiz bee, when we entered Amulung National High School we are
very nervous”, Krisha Publico said.

The contestants have arrived, and the room was filled with high
school students who look monstrosly intelligent, so they thought that
they just enjoy it and try not to make a mistake. One thing for sure,
they never forgot to pray. They prayed for guidance and they
asked for a chance to represent their school in the regionals. The quiz
bee has started. Round 1– Easy. Luckily, almost all of the questions
asked were answered correctly by them, and up to the difficult
round, we only had 3 mistakes. Sure, that didn’t guarantee their
championship but they are happy for that result already. They never
thought that they are in the top 3. Because two schools had to tie-
break that time. Turns out, they won and they are advancing to
Regionals and the quiz will happen online.

“ I feel like we raised the logo of our school and the smiles of
our mentors and teachers made my heart flutter. It’s all thanks to the
almighty that we won the PLDT quiz bee for the division of
Cagayan.”, Khianne said.

On that day during the awarding there is a ravishing heavy

rains and the swooshing high winds happened, the deafening bangs
of newly-installed gymnasium roofing, like a paper leaf swaying
blown by the strong winds. The co-graduates, teachers and students
they yelled at top of their voice remiding their friends to back down
and stay low. They kneel down the submerge floor of the gymnasium.
They hold their postion for several minute and ducked and
covered.Tha’t time there’s no current and all their clothes are
already wet. Some vans and service vehicles of the participating
schools were hit of the strong winds.

According to Krisha, she doesn’t know what to do on that time

because people already in panic, she is very frightened because of
the lightning and thunder. “I thanked God no severe casualities
happened” she added.

Besides, for all of their sacrifices and determination they attain

their goals and became the pride of Camalaniugan National High
School.
“OLD AGE TEACHERS”

One of the hardest job is being a good teacher. Teaching is a

very noble profession that shapes the character, quality, and future
of an individual.

Previously, teacher’s used manila paper, cartolina, flashcards

and etc. for their mode of teaching. They also write their lesson plan
in a notebook. They are very strict to their students most especially
when they didn’t know their lessons. They whip, pinch, throw eraser
and chalk to their students when they don’t listen and don’t know
how to read. Even though, this kind of teaching, many students are
discipline and responsible. Because of the teachers who are very
strict many students finish their career and became successful .

Now, the old teachers are hard to used gadgets because they
usually used manual teaching. They are ignorant in using
technology. They are also need somebody to teach them how to
use it and sometimes they go to the computer shop to download
their lessons, compute grades, and encoding their test questions.
Sometimes when they commit mistake in pressing the keys, they
didn’t know what they are going to do. Teachers trying to adapt in
using technology for their teaching because this is the new method.
Old age teachers are already obedient to their students but some
students are hard headed and they don’t obey their teachers.

Because of this new method of using the different kinds of

gadgets they wanted to have an early retirement.
