GUIDE QUESTIONS IN THE STUDY OF MORAL PRINCIPLES AND CODE OF ETHICS FOR TEACHERS
1. Section 9 of CODE OF ETHICS OF PROFESSIONAL TEACHERS, a teacher shall ensure that conditions
contribute to the maximum development of learners are adequate, and shall extend needed assistance in
preventing or solving learner problems and difficulties.
The teacher should NOT ignore the behavior of the student for being uncomfortable. On the contrary, it is just
proper and necessary for the teacher to ask the student why does he/she feel uncomfortable and offer a
solution to the student’s problem.
2. Article VIII, Section 6 of CODE OF ETHICS OF PROFESSIONAL TEACHERS states that the evaluation of the
learner must be based on work only in merit and quality of academic performance. Therefore, adding points
to scores of students is not justified.
3. Borrowing money of the school without permission from proper authorities is an example of stealing.
Article X, Section 2 of CODE OF ETHICS OF PROFESSIONAL TEACHERS states that a teacher shall maintain a
good reputation with respect to the financial matters such as in the settlement of his debts and loans in
arranging satisfactorily his private financial affairs.
4. Inventing stories about co-teachers is in violation of Article VI, Section 2 of CODE OF ETHICS OF
PROFESSIONAL TEACHERS which states that a teacher shall not make any false accusations or charges against
superiors (also applies to co-teachers), especially under anonymity.
5. Article VIII, Section 6 of CODE OF ETHICS OF PROFESSIONAL TEACHERS states that a teacher shall base the
evaluation of the learner must be based on work only in merit and quality of academic performance.
Therefore, the teacher shall see to it that research work of student was not copied from another student’s
work.
6. Article VIII, Section 6 of CODE OF ETHICS OF PROFESSIONAL TEACHERS states that a teacher shall base the

Therefore, a teacher should not provide exam answers for his/her students.
7. In order to acquire mastery of the subject, Article IV, Section 3, states that every teacher shall participate in
the Continuing Professional Education (CPE) program of the Professional Regulation Commission, and shall
pursue such other studies as will improve his efficiency, enhance the prestige of the profession, and
strengthen his competence, virtues, and productivity in order to be nationally and internationally competitive.
