Manager, Business Intelligence - Delivery.
The successful candidate will join our Shaw Enterprise Business Intelligence team, which partners
with stakeholders from Finance, Data Strategy, Marketing, Product & Pricing, Sales, Engineering and
others. The BI Centre of Excellent team members collaborate with support teams, reporting teams
and end users to create data driven solutions to provide valuable and actionable insights to our
stakeholders.

Accountabilities/ Responsibilities:

· Design and deliver automated report solutions that summarize and transform data from various
data sources into understandable, actionable information.
· Develop and improve data mart structures and BI report development/delivery processes to
improve efficiency, usability, consistency, reliability and relevance of reports.
· Collect and converge requirements from end users; translate requirements into technical
solutions.
· Collaborate with business partners to identify opportunities to apply BI insights to various areas
of the organization.
· Support and troubleshoot technical problems within the BI Environment.
· Understand and remain current on Shaw product offerings, promotions, and associated order
entry / order management procedures.

Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

· 7+ years creating automated reports, using advanced techniques with various systems and
tools, and with emphasis on efficient, high quality code and identification/mitigation of data integrity
problems.
· 7+ years and a solid understanding of SQL, and other DB constructs including stored
procedures, functions, views and execution plans. Advanced knowledge of code optimization,
including development/coding best practices.
· 5+ years, a solid understanding, and demonstrated ability to apply Data Warehouse and Data
Modeling methodologies into practice. With a focus on the ability to understand the underlying data
sources and translating that knowledge into mapping documents and requirements for ETL
developers.

In this newly developed role, the Manager of Information Technology & Business Intelligence, you
will be responsible for developing, leading the implementation of the organization’s IT strategy. You
will be the key point person on projects and initiatives that will align data models and analytics with
our strategies as well as understand their downstream impacts. You will manage proactively, the
design and delivery of new and improved insights in to the business.

1. Lead IT Initiatives and Projects
 Analyze requests from business staff at any level of organization, assess business value of
request, elicit the data requirements, test and implement approved query reports or data
extracts against the Corporate Data Warehouse (“CDW”) or any corporate data sources.
 Manages business sensitive data and supports complex BI requests
 Leads small projects to build applications/tools and further the effectiveness of information
delivery.
 Works on internal Analytics or external cross-department project teams as requested to
represent the interests of BI.
 Provides and leads training, support and documentation to business leaders and analysts

transportation and delivery of data in a variety of formats for various applications

 Prepare and issue instructions concerning generation, completion, and distribution of reports
according to new or revised practices, procedures, or policies of reports management

We are seeking a Business Intelligence Manager for a newly created team within our Government Services
division. The Business Intelligence Manager will oversee a small team that will research, analyze policy,
legislation and potential changes with the health care systems with particular attention to those related to the

As a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer, you will lead a program to generate business and user experience
insights based off of rich quantitative data. You will work closely with the user experience (UX), product
management, engineering, and data analytic platform teams to ensure the right data are gathered in the
right way to generate actionable insights into how our customers (i.e. candidates, employees, managers, and
HR team members) -- interact with People Tech and HR systems.
The successful candidate in this role knows and loves working with business intelligence products, is
comfortable accessing and working with data from multiple sources, and can partner with internal
stakeholders to help drive the business. Successful candidates have significant experience analyzing data,
identifying trends, extracting conclusions, and presenting findings in a simple and clear manner. We are
looking for someone who not only finds patterns in the data, but more importantly, understands how to turn
those discoveries into value for our customers every day.

Responsibilities

 Ability to partner with development, product management, and user experience teams to understand
and grow our data analytics platform.
 Ability to create long-view research road maps that impact product life cycles using a variety of
appropriate techniques.

 Ability to develop metrics that appropriately reflect the user experience, quality of a feature, product or
system.
 Identify the best method, or mix of methods, based on research questions, timeline and resourcing.
 Work cross-functionally with design, product management, engineering, and marketing to
communicate results and recommendations, and advocate on behalf of our customers.
 Report on existing key business metrics, ensuring clear understanding of progress to all goals.
 Use experimental design and statistics to assist in the design and measurement of various tests.
 Manage large scale requests and projects to define requirements, manage timelines, and coordinate
activities with other involved team members
 Work cross functionally with the product team to recommend ways of automating existing manual
processes.

Basic Qualifications

 5+ years hands on analytics work experience with proven quantitative orientation.


 Bachelor’s degree in math, finance, engineering, statistics, or related discipline is required.
 Proven analytical and quantitative skills and ability to use hard data and metrics to back up assumptions
and develop business cases.
 Excellent working knowledge of large data manipulation and data mining using complex SQL.
 Strong skills in Excel as well as other data visualization tools like Tableau, QuikView, Power BI etc.
 Experience in designing and delivering cross functional custom reporting solutions.
 Strong verbal/written communication & data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively
develop and communicate clear, thoughtful, and comprehensive analyses.
 Demonstrated ability to manage and prioritize workload and roadmaps.
 Be self-driven, and show ability to deliver on ambiguous projects with incomplete or dirty data.
Preferred Qualifications

 Graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Finance, Statistics or a related discipline.
 Familiarity with Human Resources/People data (e.g. Payroll, Job Records, and Time data).
 Ability to engage with and influence senior leadership across a variety of functions and business lines.
 Experience in partnering with business owners to understand requirements and develop supporting
analysis to solve business problems.
 Familiarity with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift.
 Knowledge and direct experience using business intelligence reporting tools. (OBIEE, Business Objects,
Cognos, Tableau, MicroStrategy, SSAS Cubes, etc.).
 Knowledge of scripting for automation (e.g. Python, Perl, Ruby).

Job purpose
Customer analytics is a business unit that offers a revolutionary AI- and machine learning-based analytic
solutions to consumers and corporate customers. The role designs and uses artificial intelligence, data science
and analytics algorithms to help internal and external consumers make smarter financial decisions.
Key accountabilities

Data Collection/ Analysis:


 • Program and analyze dashboards for relevant information, including historical trends
 • Manage dashboards to track what users are doing
 • Extract data to run through analytics platforms and visualize data
 Identify and leverage new data sources internally and externally to create a rich data lake of different
metrics which will have a significant impact on external customers and internal processes.
Data Cleanup:
 Extract signal from noise
 Convert to information and generate insights. Understand the business variables and create
meaningful data insights to help define sales strategy, cross selling, pricing, product bundling and
other similar inputs to the business teams.
 Information extraction
Statistical Modeling:
 Create algorithms that easily scale with amount of data and users
 “Machine learning” – constructing algorithms so teams can learn from and make predictions on data
 Natural language processes (NLP)
Creating & Developing:
 New software applications
 File patents for inventions on behalf of the company
 Developing commercial solutions using Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive, Kafka,
Storm, Cassandra, Neo4j, etc.
 Develop production quality code to run in our data processing centers
Research & Reporting:
 Coordinate and execute all phases of market research
 Deliver current and relevant customer and market insights
 Develop longitudinal survey studies to provide insights on emerging consumer needs and industry
gaps
 Design and conduct exploratory user studies, including surveys, market studies, attitude, usage and
brand tracking studies
 Create dynamic and actionable reports that bring the data to life
 Track and summarize consumer trends to help keep internal stakeholders informed
Analysis:
 Competitive analysis, industry analysis, scenario modeling
 Maintain understanding of financial, strategic and marketing imperatives, product and service
roadmap and competitive dynamics in the marketplace
 Understand how business interacts with brands and customers, with deep knowledge of the role

Strategy:
 Develop and initiate digital strategies that can be applied across multiple business lines and channels
