DEPARTMENT OF MECHANICAL ENGINEERING

Year (2014 – 2015)
1.1 Introduction:

The Mechanical Engineering Department of the Institute since 1965 has produced so
many technocrats who are serving the country. The department has been involved with many
research works and projects. Needless to say it is presently associated to different research and
development activities resulted a couple of patents filed. Some of the faculty members are
coordinating different technical bodies of the State, Tripura and the region. Numerous projects
at State as well as National level are secured from different funding agencies and organize the
short term courses in different fields of engineering and technology. The Department has
organized conferences at national level too. The Department of MechanicalEngineeringintakes
90 (Ninety) students per year in the first semester of the four year Degree course, besides
consignable numbers of PhD students the department is hoisting three programs at PG level.

The Department has 29(twenty-nine) nos. of faculty members. Among them 1(one)
Professor, 5(five) numbers of Associate Professors, and rest areAssistant Professor. All the
faculties are involved with different consultancy, research and developmental works along
administrative activities of the Institute.
