MECHANICS OF THE TECH4ED PHOTO CONTEST

CONTEST PROFILE
In celebration of the National Information and Communications Technology (NICT) Month, the Tech4ED project will
conduct a photo contest which highlights the role of the Tech4ED Program in widening the perspective of the
people on the way they SEE the Information Communication and Technology (ICT).

CONTEST THEME
The Tech4ED Photo Contest will adopt the NICT Month’s theme “See ICT Differently”.
Entries must strictly adhere to the competition theme. Photos should portray how the Tech4ED program has
transformed the people’s way of utilizing the Information and Communications Technology to improve their lives.
Tech4ED Project reserves the right to exclude entries which do not adhere to the competition theme.

CONTEST DURATION
Deadline of submission of entries is until June 30, 2019. Winners will be announced at Tech4ED Center’s Official
Facebook Account on July 2019.

WHO CAN JOIN


• Participants must be 18 years old and above and must have an existing Tech4ED account;
• Tech4ED Center Managers, partners and platform users are highly encouraged to join;
• Open to all individuals (male or female) who use Tech4ED centers for a purpose (e.g. promotion of Digital
literacy in the community, use the platform for skills training and capacity building, and others.)

SUBMISSION OF ENTRIES
o Content of the submitted photo MUST reflect the contest theme. Photos are encouraged but are not
required to be taken inside a Tech4ED Center.
o Participant can submit up to 3 photos but only 1 will be chosen as his/her entry.
o Participant should submit the photo(s) with the completed submission form and signed consent form. The
form can be electronically signed.
o Entries should be emailed to info.tech4ed@dict.gov.ph with the subject: “See ICT Differently”.
PHOTO REQUIREMENTS
• Photo must be digitally taken in jpg format and must be at least 1600 pixels. Photo should be in landscape
orientation and at least 1.5MB or at most 8MB.
• Photo entry should have a corresponding “photo title” and short “photo caption” to describe what the
photo is about. Caption should have a maximum of 30 words only.
• Photos to be submitted should have no watermark. All entries must be originally captured and have not
been submitted or won in any other contests.
• Photo shouldn’t have been uploaded to any social media sites.
• Photograph must not contain obscene, provocative, defamatory sexually explicit or otherwise
objectionable or inappropriate content.
• Minimal enhancement of digital photo is allowed (one-step enhancement such as Auto Fix, Quick Fix or
Auto Levels). Photos that have been significantly altered and modified or appear unnatural (i.e. use of
artistic digital editing such photoshop and filters) will not be accepted.
• If the photograph contains any material or elements which are subject to the rights of third parties, or if
any persons appear in the photograph, the entrant is responsible for obtaining releases and consent
necessary to permit the exhibition and use of the photograph set forth in the mechanics.
• Photos submitted will become the property of DICT (Tech4ED project). Tech4ED reserves the right to reject
any entry that do not comply with the requirements and guidelines of the contest.

CRITERIA FOR JUDGING


The entries shall be judged based on the following criteria:
• Adherence/appropriateness to theme 20%
• Clarity of expression 15%
• No. of online votes (through FB likes and shares) 10%
• Inspirational value 20%
• Potential Social impact 20%
• Visual appeal 15%

The decision of the judges is final and not appealable.

ANNOUNCEMENT OF WINNERS
o Top 10 Finalists will be posted on the Tech4ED Facebook page July 08, 2019. Only the finalists will be
subjected to online votes from July 08, 2019 to July 14, 2019;
o Top 3 winners will be announced on the Tech4ED Facebook page on July 2019. Awarding Ceremony will be
held during the Knowledge Exchange Conference in August.
WINNERS AND PRIZES
o Three winners will be chosen for the photo contest;
o Each winner will receive a certificate of recognition and Tech4ED tokens.
o Grand Prize will receive Free Conference Pass for the Knowledge Exchange Conference in Palawan.

By joining this competition, the participants agree with the mechanics of this contest and all the provisions
provided.
