Chaitanya TISS
Introduction to Chaitanya
Chaitanya, a development organization established in 1993, is one of the
pioneers of community based micro-finance institutions in Maharashtra. Started
as a grass root organization, Chaitanya is one of the very few organizations in
the country providing training and resource services to others, based on
experiential learning. The inimitable feature of Chaitanya's capacity building
inputs is the strong focus on demonstration. Only that is shared which has been
tried and tested.
Introduction to TISS
The Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) was established in 1936, as the Sir
Dorabji Tata Graduate School of Social Work. The first school of social work in
India, the TISS was a pioneering effort, characteristic of the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust.
The TISS subsequently influenced the direction of social work education & social
research in India. The year 1964 was an important landmark in the history of the
institute, when it was recognized as a Deemed University by the University Grants
