Thank you for your purchase of the Emergenzamatic rescue device 43/E series, an
equipment applicable in lifts with asynchronous motor (model 43/EMD) or synchronous
motor (model 43/ES). This device, in the event of lack of main supply voltage or electrical
failure in the control panel, releases the trapped passengers bringing the car to the nearest
or prefixed floor and opening the doors. The device operates and switches off
automatically and is especially aimed at buildings without concierge service or with large
influx of public (hospitals, airports, subways, stadiums, etc. ..) where in case of
emergency it is recommended to take the car to a specific evacuation floor.
The devices 43/E series, designed according to the new criteria "green future", are easy to
install, with a systems learning the parameters during commissioning and a new method of
engine management which ensures at any intervention a reduction in consumption of
battery life (up 80%). The batteries used are 12V sealed type, and their number depends
on the rescue operation (to the nearest or specific floor) that the device is requested to
perform; it is possible to insert from 4 to 10 batteries (usually with capacity 7.2Ah or
18Ah).
As required by the rules in force, the device does not work in cases where the safety
circuits of the lift - for whatever reason - are out of service.
The purpose of this manual is to give support to the installer during installation of the
device, and also to provide all the information necessary for the proper use and
maintenance service. Discrepancies between some contents of this manual and the
behavior of the device could be found, but they have no substantial effect on efficiency of
the device as they are due just to several firmware updates.
In the event that the contents of this manual was not enough or you need more
explanations, please contact our technical department.

Installing the device
Place the device as close as possible to the main motor, in any case in proximity of the control panel of the
lift.
The layout of components is optimized for a positioning under the controller and the holes of the top cover
(removable to improve access to the terminal board) allow carry cables for connection to the control panel.
You can lift the metal case from the ground using the appropriate brackets supplied.
This way a compartment to hold the batteries is done.
The interface with the lift is performed by means of suitable terminals mainly located in Manoeuvre section
(for safety circuits), in Door section (door motor and / or its operators). Specific Power terminals are
provided for connecting the main motor and the brake.
Below is a step-by-step procedure, with some suggestions for the interface of the main circuits.
-8-
The following operation will get a good level of battery charging once the installation is completed.
After performing this step, the device will be energized!
If for some reason it should be impossible to continue the installation with the device powered you can skip this step and
go back later.
• Open “SM” and “SB” switches.
• Connect the battery set with [ - ] and [+48] terminals (and with [ S ] too, if the device is a /B2
type)
To prevent accidental short circuits it is necessary to make the connections in the following sequence:
• Positive pole of the fourth battery with [+48] terminal
• (For device /B1 type): [S] terminal – if any – with [+48] terminal
• (For device /B2 type): Positive of last battery with [S] terminal
• Negative pole of first battery with [ - ] terminal
• Connect the series of batteries as shown in figure
• Check / Reconfigure the cables of the secondary of the Battery charger transformer (see page 7) in
conformity with the nominal voltage of the batteries.
• Connect the mains supply to [~] - [~] terminals (see Manoeuvre section page 7)
Make sure that the input of the Battery charger transformer is coherent with the mains.
-9-
Now the device is turned on and is able to charge the batteries.
The following is the procedure for obtaining information about the status of the battery charge.
- 10 -
While charging “Float”
With device at rest:
The following is the guide on the interface between the device and the control panel.
In order to obtain a satisfactory floor levelling is advisable that the magnets have a length of about 8-10 cm.
Place the magnets centering them as much as possible on the landing zone. In the case in which the magnets are
found longer than necessary, we recommend to cut them at the right size.
• Connect the stop's contact (e.g. The contact of the magnetic inductor) between [ I ] and [K]
terminals of the device (see Manoeuvre section on page 7).
• (Optional). In case the cabin has two entrances, additional floor magnets must be placed in
correspondence with the floors in which the second door should open during the emergency cycle.
Also you must install a second magnetic inductor relating to additional floor magnets.
For more information or special cases refer to the wiring diagram of the device.
• If not already available, add an auxiliary contact to the main switch of the lift.
• Connect the auxiliary contact between [P1] and [P2] terminals of the device (see Manoeuvre section).
The insertion of P1-P2 contact provides the opportunity to also disable the operation of the device every time the
main switch of the lift is opened. The operation of the device may be turned off by placing additional and
appropriate contacts in series with P1-P2.
- 11 -
• (Optional, only if required). Install the indicator light plate inside the lift car and connect its terminals
[+], [-] and [s / b] respectively to the terminals [I], [L] and [NL] of the device.
Remember that the terminal [ I ] already used for the stop contact (I-K) is available in lift car, while the connection
to [NL] can be arranged through the earth, corresponding to terminal yellow/green of the device.
It's advisable to highlight the need for additional cuts since the order is placed.
• Find the start side of the safety circuits, usually corresponding to a cable coming from the
compartment and connected to the control panel.
• Disconnect the wire from the panel and connect it to [EC] terminal of the device (see Manoeuvre
section on page 7).
• Connect the terminal now empty of the controller to [BC] terminal of the device.
• Find the end side of the safety circuits, usually corresponding to a cable coming from the
compartment and connected to the coils of travel contactor through a terminal of the controller.
• Disconnect said cable from the controller and connect it to [U] terminal of the device.
• Connect the terminal of the controller now remaining empty with the terminal [A] of the device.
If further cuts of safety series are necessary, it is possible to use [UC]-[AC] and [B]-[E] circuits.
It is always possible to insert additional relays whose coils are supplied between terminals [I] and [RS] of the device (see
Manoeuvre section on pag.7)
It's advisable to highlight the need for additional cuts since the order is placed.
• Connect the cables of the motor to [UM], [VW] and [WM] terminals (see Power terminals on page 7)
In case of two-speed motors, the connection must be made with the high speed.
It is recommended to perform these connections with cables of at least 4 mm²
• Connect the brake to the [F1] and [F2] terminal, considering [F2] as positive pole.
- 12 -
For all non-standard cases, please refer to the wiring diagram associated with the device.
Commissioning
The test programs can only be activated if the control panel is off (no voltage between terminals [MA] and [NL]).
Press and hold the "ENTER/Test" key to run the selected test
program.
To exit test mode, simply press several times “ESC" key to return to main working status.
If for a time of about 1 minute should not be pressed any key, the device will automatically exit from the Test mode.

Programming of parameters
Here below is explained how to change the operating parameters of the emergency device through the
example of modification of the parameter "tA" (waiting time of intervention).
With device at rest:
- 14 -
Press and release “ENTER/Test” to store the new value or "ESC/Pg"
to exit the menu without saving.
Only if some changes have been made, the code "PG" is displayed
for a few seconds.
Set-up (TUNING)
Now have a detailed description of how to optimize the parameters related to the movement of the motor
over the emergency cycle:
43/EMD
The TUNING is a procedure essential for the operation of the device to work in energy saving and, if done correctly,
need not be repeated.
Tuning
To correctly perform the Tuning procedure act as follows:
• Make sure that the device is in a position to power the motor
• Open SB switch (Skip for machine roomless systems with remote tool)
• Disconnect the power supply to the control panel
• Press and release “ESC/Pg" key
• Close, if necessary, the [P1] – [P2] bridge
• Select the parameter [tn] by means of "DW/Err" and "UP/Cb" keys
• Press and release "ENTER/Test" key to have access to Tuning menu
• Select "1" by pressing "DW/Err" and "UP/Cb" keys
• Press and release "ENTER/Test" key to store the value
• Press and release the "ESC/Pg" key
• The message "tn" will be blinking on the display
• Close SB switch (Skip for machine roomless systems with remote tool)
From now on, for about 3 minutes, the device will perform measurements on the main
motor with brake closed.
Additional information is available in "Quick & Short" section of the Website www.emergenzamatic.com
Problems? Refer to the section Troubleshooting on page 35.
- 15 -
43/EMD
Warning!
If during Tuning the lift car moves, you must immediately stop the tuning procedure through the opening of "Sb" switch
(or press Dw+Enter for machine roomless systems with remote tool). It will be necessary to increase the frequency
range (parameter [rF]) and / or reduce the number of batteries connected to terminal [S].
To reduce the number of batteries proceed as follows:
1) Open Main switch – SM
2) Reduce the number of batteries connected to "S" terminal of the device
3) Change the charging voltage (through the appropriate sockets in the Battery charger transformer) to the new number
of batteries set.
4) Close Main switch – SM and change the parameter [nb] in accordance with the new number of batteries.
5) Turn the device off and then on again after few seconds, through theMain switch – SM.
6) Restart the tuning procedure from the beginning.
The presence of the value "2" between the selectable items for [tn] parameter indicates the possibility of a
further optimization of the tuning procedure.
The optimization can be performed by repeating the steps of tuning given above but selecting "2" instead
of "1" when prompted.
43/ES
Choosing “Fn”
With the lift car empty and unbalanced load (position about half of total run), act as follows:
At the end of this procedure, set [Fn] parameter at the value previously noted.
Choosing “F3”
Set [F3] parameter at about 1/10 of [Fn].
- 16 -
43/ES
With the lift car at half load and half of total run (balanced load), act as follows:
If the movement of the lift car is regular for both directions of run, the TUNING procedure can be
considered successfully completed, otherwise try to:
1) Check that the lift car is balanced
2) Decrease [F3] parameter;
If the movement of the lift car is regular but at too low speed, it is possible to try increasing the value of
[F3] parameter and repeat the test with balanced load.
Door motor:
Set an appropriate value of the parameter tP (door opening time). The value of the voltage for powering the
door is already set as specified by the customer at the time of the purchase, but if necessary can be changed
by moving the position of the cable marked "PORTE" (doors) between the terminals of the inverter
transformer.
As indicated at the beginning of this manual, the device supplied is usually equipped with the universal door
card "D09". In this case, you can configure the door section through the relevant jumpers and
potentiometers as in the examples shown in the table later in the manual (for more information refer to
Appendix E on page 32).
In the case in which the power supply circuit of the door operator of the device consists of a single-phase
inverter + phase shifter capacitor, to optimize the operating conditions you can act on:
For any other door card or configuration of door section refer to the wiring diagram of the device.
Emergency operation:
Conditions of start, operating phases and signals
The emergency device - if properly installed and configured - is able to intervene in two operating modes:

Interfacing:
1 Pairs of terminal “O1/V1 - O2/V2 - O3/V3”:
- Use the three pairs in case of three-phase door motor
- Use only the pairs O1/V1 - O3/V3 in case of single-phase or DC door motor.
For more information see the wiring diagram
2 Terminals “O6 – V6 – O7”:
They give command for opening and closing doors in case of single-phase operator.
For more information see the wiring diagram.
Adjustments:
3 Potentiometer “AP”:
To adjust the speed of the door during the opening.
4 Potentiometer “CH”:
To adjust the speed of the door during the closing.
5 Potentiometer “MT”:
To adjust the torque required to keep the door closed during the emergency running.
NOTE: If the door operator is a DC type, the potentiometer is to move in clockwise direction to raise the torque.
6 Selector “MT”:
Place it on the left if the door must keep powered during the emergency run.

7 Selector “Mono/Trif”:
Place it on the left in case the door is single-phase or DC.
Place it on the right (or remove it) in case the door is three-phase.
8 Selector “Z”:
Place it on the left as well as “Mono/Trif” selector to power DC door (or retiring cam in case of manual door) through O1 and
O3 terminals.
Indicator lights:
9 Led “AP”:
In case this LED only is ON, it means that the door is opening.
10 Led “CH”:
In case this LED only is ON, it means that the door is closing.
11 Info “MT” :
The simultaneous switching ON of both LED “AP” and “CH” indicates that the door is being powered during the emergency run.
12 Led “MAX”:
It switches ON in case of overload.
13 Led “Vout”:
It shows that both single and three phase sections are powered
14 Led “ON”:
