THE BEST THEORETICAL PERSPECTIVE THAT EXPLAINS HUMAN BEHAVIOR

Sigmund Freud, a psychologist who founded Psychoanalytic school of thought. He

believes that events, happening and episodes in our childhood plays an important key factor that

explains and describe the theory of why and how an individual’s childhood events have shaped or

have made their attitude and behavior as they become adults.

Psychoanalytic helps explain the meaning behind someone else’s dreams and their

behavioral reactions to traumatic or stressful circumstances. This perspective focuses the

unconscious mind of an individual’s mind which can hold repressed memories and unexpressed

desires. The unconscious mind is composed of three components which are Id, superego, and ego.

Id refers to the inborn characters and impulses that exists in every human being from birth.

Superego is about an individual’s ethics/morality in which they can differentiate what is right from

what is wrong. Ego works to balance id and superego that acts as an individual between the two,

a deciding stage on what guidance to take.

An example could be like this: Rose is an accomplished professional, but always feels like

her work isn’t good enough and is constantly scared that people will be unhappy with her work.

It’s because when she was growing up, her father disliked and criticize or no support with

everything she did.
