FESTIVAL INFORMATION

The first five years of the Angeles City Choral Festival was held with great success with a large
number of participants and audience. It is with great enthusiasm that the Divine Majesty Male
Choir and Holy Angel University Chorale will open the auditions for the much awaited 6th
Angeles City Choral Festival 2019 featuring the works of Ms. Anna Tabita-Abeleda Piquero. We
aim to make this year’s event remarkable, create an excellent impression and hopefully we will
have the opportunity to work and have fun together. So don’t miss out on your chance to be a
part of it!

THE PURPOSE

The annual choir festival seeks to promote the works of the featured conductor/arranger for
the year; inspiring both conductors/arrangers to aspire for their works to be featured in future
festivals and choirs to deliver the best rendition of Filipino music; all the while extending the
reach of choral music awareness among audiences who would bear witness in the magnificence
of the Filipino musical talent.

THE MISSION

To promote local talents and showcase world-class Filipino music.

DATE AND VENUE

The festival will be on November 9, 2019 (Saturday) at 6PM. The official venue will be at the
Holy Angel University Theatre, Angeles City. We selected the sixth leg of the festival in this
theatre because of the acoustics of the chamber area. The structural design of the theatre is
suitable for such an event and will likely enhance the overall experience of listening and
enjoying choral music.

REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICATION

The closing date for applications is on the 30th of MAY 2019. The following requirements will be
sent via email.
1. Audio Recording
*The recording should not be older than two (2) years.

4. Photo of the Choir (Landscape, 300 DPI)
5. Photo of the Conductor (Portrait, 300 DPI)
Note: Participants agree that all submitted photos may be published or shown publicly.

CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION

Mechanics
1. Participation in the festival implies acceptance of all rules and selection process.
2. Each choir is allowed to have on stage a maximum of 30 singing members.
3. No choir may sing the same repertoire for the festival. Choice piece will be on a first
come first served basis.
4. The use of scores during performance is not permitted. All music should be memorized
by the participants.
5. The timeline provided by the festival committee must be strictly adhered to. The
timeline can be changed as per the festival committee’s sole discretion.
6. Illegal reproduction of music pieces will not be tolerated by the festival. In the event of
any illegal reproduction, the festival committee accepts no responsibility for any action
taken by composers.
Performance of the Choir

1. To those who will qualify for the festival, each participating choir shall perform two (2)
songs:
a. Conductor’s choice - Ms. Anna Piquero’s arrangement/composition and it will be
provided by the festival committee.
b. Choice Piece - A freely chosen piece a capella or accompanied choral piece will be
submitted to the committee 2 months before the festival date. Changing of
submitted chosen piece is not allowed.
2. The total singing time for two songs must not exceed 12 minutes.
3. All participating choirs will be divided into two groups and will be singing tutti festival
songs.
4. For the finale, all choirs shall perform the festival piece.

Payment Terms

1. Participation Fee is Php12,000.00.

2. 50% down payment should be made on June 29, 2019.
3. Full payment MUST be made on August 11, 2019.
4. A festival choir that withdraws from the festival is not entitled to a fee refund.
5. The committee can only provide acknowledgment receipt upon request.

Participation Fee Entitlement

1. Tickets worth Php20,000.00

(5 VIP Tickets at Php1,000.00 each and 60 Regular Tickets Php250.00 each)
2. A free choral workshop with the featured conductor which will be held on August 10-11,
2019 (tentative date) at Otel Pampanga, City of San Fernando Pampanga (tentative
venue).
3. An opportunity to attend the choir’s night together with the other festival choirs.
4. Certificate and token of appreciation.
5. One copy of a souvenir program will be given to each choir.
6. A packed dinner will be served on the night of the festival.
7. Performance rights of the scores and a chance to premiere the works of the featured
arranger.
8. The chance to watch and sing with the world-renowned guest choir.
