At the end of the lesson, students shall be able to:
a) Recognize Propaganda techniques used in a given text.- EN8RC-IIIb-12.1
b) Identify what type of propaganda is used in a given text
c) Use propaganda techniques in promoting a product

A. Awareness

1. Prayer

THE CLASS WILL BE DIVIDED INTO THREE (3) GROUPS.
THESE ARE SOME OF THE LOCAL PRODUCTS WE HAVE HERE IN PINABACDAO.
THINK OF WAY WHICH YOU CAN PROMOTE THIS PRODUCT TO EVERYONE.

C. Analysis

1. How propaganda is used?

Answer: Propaganda is a form of persuasion used to influence people's


attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors. A working definition of propaganda is
the spreading of ideas, information, or rumor for the purpose of helping or
injuring an institution, a cause, or a person.

D. Abstraction

Propaganda is related to advertising, where it is about promoting a product.


It is also used to influence religious beliefs of society.

These are the following types of Propaganda:

• Bandwagon – This type of propaganda invites consumers to try the product


being endorsed because everyone is using it. (ex., beauty products)

• Plain Folks - The users of the product or proponents of this course of action
are simple, down-to-earth people like you and me.

• Card Stacking – It distorts or omit facts and tell half-truths.

• Name-Calling – This type of propaganda stereotype ideas or people with


a bad label.

• Glittering Generalities – This type of propaganda uses "good" labels, such


as democratic, patriotic, amazing, beautiful and exciting, that are
unsupported by facts.

• Testimonials – This propaganda seeks support for an idea or product by


having it endorsed by a famous person such as a sports figure or movie star.

• Snob Appeal – In this type of propaganda, only the richest, most important,
or most discerning people like the idea or product.

• Loaded Words- Use of words that will make people feel strongly about
something or someone. hate. love. Use "loaded" words like. new. improved.
best.

E. Application

1. How do advertisers or political figures use some of these techniques?
